Hello all,
I have a 13.3hh bay connemara mare, she is well put together with good general conformation (maybe a little long if anything).
I am putting her in foal next season and was wondering which stallions people would suggest to breed some height in and also either dun or grey (but i am unsure what colour takes presidence??)
She is by Mac Owen (gs The Kid / gd Owens Lady) out of Cloonascrach Lady (gs Westside Mirah / gd Ganty Rowanberry).
Also, when should I plan to put her in foal?? I know its approx 11 months but I dont want her to have her foal too early (in rubbish weather) or too late (so it takes longer to mature).
Any advice welcome!!
Jade ;D

Hi We have a connie stallion called Ardbear Spirit, based near Stockport, Cheshire. There are more details about him in the section "Stallions at Stud". I have updated it & brought it to the top.
We are taking him to NPS & connie show. Maybe Cheshire 2a. Welcome to come & visit him at home, where you can also see his yearling filly & this years colt & filly foal.
Spirit has lots of scope over a fence & showing great promise as a performance stallion. He also has the movement & quality to do the riddens. He is a real pony stallion.
We have just had scanned in foal a Westside Mirah maiden mare. Very excited as he has some fab jumping stock.
we think May is a good time, not too late but warm enough for the foals. However would suggest you start end April just incase it doesnt catch first time particulalry if you are dealing with a maiden mare.
let me know if you want any further info

Hi
I sent my always send my mares to Mark Fitton - New Hill Farm & Stud
Both my Connie & TB go when they can be turned out first weekend in May and they get in foal first time every time I have sent them to him.
This year they where back with me and had had possitive heartbeat scan within 35 days.
They always come back looking fab. He always has a wide range of stallions. He is standing two connies this year and two TB

Hi, Have a look at Skellorn Harrison - lovely grey conne, only young still but doing really well under saddle (HOYS qual) as well as in hand. He's got a fab temperament and is a perfect gentleman, his youngstock are also doing very well. Contact Kerry Wainwright at the Skellorn stud (she's got a thread under stallions with her number, also see website)
