Another one!!
A TB mare, 16.2, very nicely put together - riding horse stamp only unshown due to old racing scars.
Would like to put her to smaller perhaps 15/15.2hh TB stallion, that has had a few sucessful races on the flat, ideally at 1mileish? but also produces show hack types??
Again, what month would be best to put her in foal as I may want to put her offspring in training so closest to Jan 1st is best but I obviously dont want a foal in Winter!!
Oh and she is Fun To Dream by Primitive Rising (gs Raise A Man / gd Periquito) out of Ethels Dream (gs Relkino / gd Ethels Course)
Thanks
Jade

February, but late if she comes in season then, if she shows early feb then cover her early march. I do know of an arab mare that was covered middle of feb and foaled 31st Dec, but was reg as being born 1/01, so do be careful,

Ahh - Do I have to wait for her to come in season - I know this is the old way to do it but I have noticed most of people I know having their mares 'PG'd' into season???

You could leave her light on a timer, on at 4.30am and of at 10.00pm to fool her in to thinking its spring... or you could have her PGed, TB mare do cycle all year round like Arabs.

I breed all types and all mares cycle all year round, but tend to go into a silent heat during the winter months,I have never encountered problems covering early, but only natural cycles.Must admit I don't like to pg them. P.S. I have a 15.1hh thoroughbred stallion who I bred myself,he's a pet more than anything his name is Fairy Rocket by El Nino (Fairy King / Calla )and his dam is Dance Lady (Cosmonaut /Lady Lustre),He's a nice little horse but no record

Where abouts are you? We prefer a natural cycle if at all possible but a lot depends on the weather that early in the breeding season. Lights do work and help a great deal so worth investigating

I am based in North West / Cheshire.
Just out of curiousity - why do you not like having them PG'd?
