Would apprecaite your views on this one please, The ground in our area at the moment is worse that concrete, we are due to be out showjumoing this weekend but i have said under no circumstances am i prepared to take our 12.2 jumoing pony out and jump on this when next week we can go out and jump on a surface. He hates the hard ground at the best of time so really cant see the point and wont be taking him. Some people say oh dont be so silly it wont do him any harm just doing a class, do you think i am over reacting

Thanks nhs , i said to someone last night if you want a red rosette that badly then carry onbut you will probably have a lame pony by the end of the season.
In my opinion its like setting up a set of showjumps on a road

Def do not go! Your pony's well being must come first.
A few years ago, my pony was entered for THE NEW FOREST SHOW, which is the biggest and best we would prob ever do.
It was BAKING hot and the ground was concrete. I decided that my child would suffer in the heat and that the ponys feet would also suffer.
We droveto the show, in the lorry, without the pony and had a lovely picnic, watching the classes from the shade. The poor kids in LR and FR were miserable, some were in tears and others were flaking out. I really dont think a single person enjoyed themselves.
It was def the right thing to do xx

Got to moan again, sorry folks
Still not had any rain in this area and the ground is even worse, defnitley wont be taking pony out this weekend, just fortunate that we do have local venues with surfaces,
Do you think this could be a sign of things to come maybe, wouldnt it be lovely if everywhere could afford to lay a surface , maybe a new thread to start there !!!
