After a lot of deliberation I have bout a new kitten to be a friend to Blaze who lost his best buddy Ice recently. Mistake!! He came in through the cat flap and spotted the kitten spat at it then decided to depart. Unfortnately I had locked the cat flap to prevent him rushing off, he rammed it with his head and popped it out of its lock. He stayed outside for quite a while, I made a big fuss of him but he eventually went off down the road. He won't let me pick him up so I couldn't carry him back inside, and I now haven't seen him for eleven days. Don't know what to do and now feel really guilty for buying the kitten, even if it was for him. She is gorgeous and really friendly which is great, but is determined to catch my cursor on my computer screen which makes it a bit tricky to type!! Any ideas if I can do anything about Blaze - I have been out scouring the countryside for him, but to no avail.

Does he have a favourite 'outside' place, like the barn or a particular stable? Could you leave him food and water somewhere where you know he goes?
I know it's not funny, but something similar happened to my friend - she had two cats, and one of them had kittens. The other cat came in, took one look and promptly left home, took up residence in the coal bunker. Trouble was, she was pure white - you've never seen anything like the state of her. She did come round eventually but not till most of the kittens had gone.

Hmm - my sisters cat has lived in the garage for a year now - moved out due to the dogs - BUT she has been making a comeback recently - think she has been on a bravery course! I would rattle some biscuits and try shouting him, perhaps leave some biscuits out?? Also, maybe try 'hiding' kitten so if he does come back u can get him before he sees kitten? Perhaps leave the food by the inside of the cat flap??

I have left food outside for him but he hasn't touched it. Tried calling every night when he used to be about more but not a thing. I have put the kitten in an upstairs bedroom in the day when we are not here so he can come in and eat but not a thing. I have got a new catflap that has a lock on both sides so he can't push it open with his head when it is locked and lock it in the day so he can come in but not out again, but no joy. Am beginning to dispair now - not only has he lost his best friend, but I have now brought in a new "replacement" and I think he is seriously hacked off. I haven't spotted him once for nearly two weeks which is really unusual for him. Thought I was doing the right thing!!

Is someone feeding him? Have you contacted neighbours, local shops, feed stores, post office, things like that? If he's not coming home for food then my bet is he's giving someone a sob story and they're opening the tuna for him. Perhaps you could do a poster and spend a couple of hours posting through doors etc.

We too have new kitten, very much like yours actually. Our resident cat hates Kitten. Has been out for most of the time since it's arrival. Agree about hiding kitten if you can get other cat in and make lots of fuss. I suppose they get jealous like children do when a new baby comes along! I would try not too woryy too much I'm sure he will come back wehn he is hungry, fingers crossed anyway. I really feel for you as in very similar situation. From previous experience i know though that they will eventually accept each other. Hope all goes well for you.

Thanks for all your advice! I am doing the posters - seems only yesterday I was doing the same for Ice and posting them through everyone's doors. There are only fifty houses in our village and fields and I have never seen him beyond my neighbours house up the road - the other way there are two houses then a farm track and open fields for miles. He is probably having a field day eating mice and baby rabbits to his hearts content, I just wish I knew that is all!! Thanks again and I will keep you posted. New kitten is obviously taken with HG as well!

New kitten is LOVELY......
My Bengal took up residence on top of the wardrobe, for nearly 6 months when our new kitten "Berti Bassett" arrived. LOL
She is back in the hubb of the family now, but it has taken a lot of time and a lot of piddles on the carpet, to tell us about her distress!
Thankfully, I think we are back to happy families now!
Hope your cat comes home soon!

Blaze has returned!! After four weeks away he came back and stayed around for two days. He was so pleased to see me and even let me pick him up which he has only done since Ice died. He met the new kitten and promptly broke the cat flap with his head and scarpered.
I went outside to make a fuss of him and he let me stroke him for a while before going off. He came back after a few days and I locked him in for about ten minutes until I could come and make a fuss of him. When I went into my office, he had rammed the NEW cat flap with his head and broken another one!! I haven't seen him since but at least I know he is around now and will probably come and go as he pleases, although I don't think he will ever accept Sky.
She is adorable - very friendly and a hooligan!

Good news that he's OK, I think being male he is having an almighty sulk, he may come round eventually. Can you make him a warm dry place outside thats his alone, and leave him some food there? Does he still have his 'bits'? There is also the possibility that he may become a little more interested in the kitten when she reaches a certain age - then his hormones may well get the better of him!

Very pleased he is back. I think he will accept her eventually. Might take a very long time though!
My Bengal has taken over a year to accept "Bertie Bassett", so although she still protests loudly evertime he comes near her, she will sniff his bum and stand near to him, waiting for meals to be served! LOL

Reifsnake, so glad your cat came home! Someone in our village lost thier cat, I think everyone had a good look for it to no avail. then six weeks later out of the blue it turned up, looking very sorry for itself. Cats! Also glad that your cat is getting on well with the new addition. Our cat is now 'tolerating' our new kitten, will even eat side by side but he still chases it. Kept we awake most of the night last night chasing kitten up and down the stairs!
