I think I would carry on with the Animalintex, until it comes away clean, as the vet said and THEN do the sugar and iodine mash. Cant hurt can it! Its been a miracle with the bruised sole!

The only one I've ever had that used to get regular abscess at certain times of the year, we used to tub it daily in boiled water with loads of salt in, cooled just enough to put the foot in and keep it there for a good 5-10 minutes.
His used to always come out along the coronet band mind rather than under the foot. But that was it, no dressings etc, just back out on the good grass, as the morning dew/rain used to keep it clean. Never had a problem doing it that way and was done in agreement with our vet.
But, obviously under the foot is different and would need dressing ... but the hot salt water tubing is worth doing before re-dressing each day.

I hate abcesses, they are such a pain. My old pony had one when I brought him out of the stable I thought he was gonna full on his face, he was in so much pain!! My vet came up and lanced it, polticed. Changed dressing every day tried flushing out but the bu***r was so deep the vet had to come back up to dig away at it some more, till the puss burst out like you never seen. Was soooo much better the next day poor little thing, Hope yours gets better soon xxx
