 This is my 9mth old akita puppy Nicko .........think i may have a go at showing him.... Is there any body who shows dogs who could give me some infor  Thanks ........... |

Hi,
he's a lovely pup,
he would do well in show ring,
what breeding is he,
he looks as if he has a bit od anshee breeding in his pedigree
I used to show akitas before they became maga popular and got a bad rep, seems to have settled down now that bulldog types are in vogue.
firstly assuming you haven't shown before I suggest you go with your dog to watch a feww classes to see how others do it,
he'll need to be kc reg of course, and be very well behaved to wards humans and dogs. he will need to travel well and be patient as shows can take all day and be in some community centre in the back of beyond.
he'll need to be show groomed short nails, brushed for hours and then brushed again.
but looking at his photo he does look as if he'll do well
any other help just shout up.

He's beautiful, good luck with showing him. Are there any ring craft classes near you, they can help you with showing.

he stunning i show a whippet but your boy is lovly you will have to make sure he knows how to stand and that but i think he will do very well as he looks as he a real nice pup and you should go to ring craft its really good and there people who show dogs so they will help you along your way and my ring craft does a show at every last friday of the month which would be good for him and you hope this helped and good luck

Hi really sorry for not replying sooner...I use to show my boxer many many years ago..... Yes I groom im bath im and he always smells like a TART he is very well mannered with people and dogs .....his breeding is Sire Ruthdales u cant touch this.......he as a lot of champions on his papers........ but i just want a small show to take im to but cant find anythin on the net........ we hav small horse shows for people to get going at ....there must be somthin out ther......... thank you all for your input and kind words about my handsome little man...................he isn't really little

Have you shown your pup yet if not you could contact tthe kennel club they will have show lists and akita clubs in your area.
in the mean time you could practice his stand which needs to be like a welsh pony stand back legs out straight square at the front,
let me know how you get on.

hi thanks for your input..... no not showen him yet.. went to a training class near my home ....... ooooppppsss what a disapointment ..... they were more intrerested in chatting than training....... but I now have a big prob he only as a coker collar on when we go out nothing on in the house ...... but we walk between 4 and 10 miles a day and its rub all his coat off....... its like showing a fell with no mane............. HELP IDEAS? ? well here he is at 13mts........  |
