Is there actually anything out there that people wont moan about??? lol It's a bit of bling for goodness sake, ok so some people go ott with it, but lets face it, its not hurting anyone is it. So what if you dont like it, no one is telling you to wear it. Each to their own. Now can everyone move on and stop moaning about a bit of bling. There are far more important things in life to worry about than whether you dont approve of someones browband!
Sorry rant over now.

dizzydora- clearly it's not hurting anyone. but we all must remember that showing has it's traditional values and stands for something. That is the preservation of top quality ponies and showing their qualities off and enhancing their best features.
Now like you said a bit of bling is harmless- i actually have a diamante ring in one of my browband for the BSPS/PUK sp qualifiers as i think is looks pretty. However many people prefer to see tradition velvet ribbon browbands for some of the horse and intermediate classes
the point in this was not to slag off any disgusting tacky browbands but to highlight that it may be (or could be) en route to spiraling out of control.
this reminds me of that article published in H&H about a year ago. It was a bit humerous as in they were predicting what the horse world would be like in 25 years. EG. riding surfaces so bouncy, when you fall- you bounce straight up into the saddle again. LOL (i wish!!!)
where will bling be in even 5 years?

I think it looks nice on the small, 128 and 138 show ponies, as long as it is only a browband or whatever, but thats where it should stay.

I did have the horrors at the judge at Minsterley this year who politely told me off about pony make - up. Make-up what make-up where, who'se got at my pony !!!!! She did apologise for mistaking my sec A naturally black eyes for make up.
And if I was going to use it - as have done in the past - it wouldn't have been noticeable - discreet darling !!!!!

Agree with hollycane and wornthetshirt.
The money would be far better spent on lessons (from someone who is properly trained, not a jumped up teenage groom calling themselves a "producer")
All this bling is merely a reflection of the sort of society we now live in, flashy, cheap and sad, not to mention common and tarty.

where will bling be in even 5 years? Fashions come and go. In 5 years time I expect all browbands will be velvet sharks teeth with no crystal. I'm really looking forward to pig oil going out of fashion.

i went to Moreton show today and was watching the M&M lead reins iadmit some of the jackets were very bad fits and one woman was in a short sleeved knee length dress. but i saw a beautiful grey welsh A and they had a pale green tweed with blue over check and blue tie, blue pre tied ribbons(not over the top simple with just a hint of gold pattern on the edge of the bow) leader very smart lovely jacket and matching skirt with a blue ruff like collar on the blouse(not ott just very smart) gave a lovely over all picture.
