he is lovely looking, it doesn't really say what he has acheived himself though. I would like to have a horse thats had a good career and could tell me something about trainability IMO.

well i wouldnt feel comfortable commenting on someone elses horse unless they themselves asked for my opinion but why is it important to you to get strangers approval if you like him and you think he is going to improve your mares bad points and breed what you are looking for then go for it !

I agree with hunter think about your mare's bad points then choose your stallion. If you like him go for it, only you can make your mind up as they never come out as planned anyway!!!!

Hi there, i know this horse extremely well. I worked at the stud he used to be at before Littleton Stud bought him. I used to hold the mares for him. He is a gentleman. His stock are stunning and move exceptionally well. The only reason he has no career history is due to a scar on his second thigh on the hindleg. He had an accident whilst turned out, which put a stop to his showing career, unfortunately. I would definitely recommend him.

I really like him, my mare is a section C with not a lot of bone, I was toying on whether to breed another C but then I thought of breeding a part bred welsh, she has a wonderful temprament and loves the showring and has fab conf and a very active hindleg, she is slightly long in the back but I think this will help her to carry a nice foal. Shes 13.2hh so I am hoping this stallion will help her in the size matter! I am going to see what happens nearer the time but I am pretty sure hes the one to use! I am hoping to breed somthing to show in Partbred welsh and arab classes fingers crossed it will make 15hh (but I doubt it) The mare is a lovely sort her self a true childs pony with a cracking little jump, shes desperate to have a foal bless her so I want to find the best thing I can and he is the best I've seen so far Thanks for looking at this post, he is a truly stunning horse, such a shame about his scar!!

He is a cracking horse and you seem to have your heart set on him. He sounds a right gentleman. At the end of the day the decision is your honey. It is a shame about his scar. Has he done any dressage or showjumping??? x

Haa ha - Interesting Ive just stumbled across this forum - I actually am Masons Stud and own the wonder that is Veekam...
Thank you everyone for your lovely comments - Id of been upset had anyone written something horrid.
He is fantastic and Im currently trying to buy back youngsters by him... His tempermeant is fantastic & I can assure anyone although he has not done much himself (his scar) his progeny is super duper.
For example, a rising 4 yr old by him we have has just won first ever dressage outing with 77% this weekend.... His progeny are showing, dressage & eventing. Bold, smart, incredibly attitudes & very quality.
Id suggest to Jodie that he is too leggy and too tall for a 13.2hh. I would not be happy for him to cover so small. The smallest has been about 14.2hh. Id really suggest a smaller stallion of ours called Jackets Pipedream standing with us from 2011. He is 14.2hh & not disimilar type and circumsntances to Vekaam.

He looks a lovely stallion as does Pipedream, just out of interest how much arab % does Pipedream carry? I agree with the comments above and would look at the mare and assess her best/worse points then choose a stallion that compliments perfectly. Good luck with finding the stallion of your dreams xxxxxxx

Well having had a look at Vekaam's bloodlines I can see he has Bey Shadow in his damline and I had a fantastic arab mare by Bey Shadow - September Shade bred by the Strinesdale Stud. Her 2 offspring were both affiliated Dressage Pony & Horse, the pony Antsar Eddie being selected for Central BYRDS. Our horse Antsar Fredero as well as affil dressage also had a fab jump. Eddie was by Courtway Viscount (Cusop Disciplin) and Freddie by the AHS Premium Stallion El Prendero. Will definitely have a look at Vekaam, if I may Mason Stud as I have been looking for an AA similar to El Prendero and to have September Shade's bloodlines in there is perfect. For me crossed with the Welsh they are super Sports Ponies/Horses and the Europeans have been using Arab/TB/Welsh bloodlines for decades.
Again Jackets Pipedream is by Jackets Indigo Blue and we had the full brother to Jackets Indigo Blue - Jackets Boy Blue (gelding). Bluey was a fabulous pony he introduced my daughter into showing especially PBA showing as we had him registered AHS. He did dressage and loved to jump so much so that Sarah used to take him over the worker practice fence at a show before she went into the show ring. Bluey went over 138 cms so the PBA classes were perfect for him. Our family have always said Jackets Boy Blue was the "perfect" pony. He took County Show Grand Parades in his stride - very much missed.
Many thanks Josie1234 for posting this topic as I'm so pleased these wonderful bloodlines are still out there and available to use and especially that the Stud does AI.

Really glad the height difference has been discussed. I wish mare owners would think more what they are putting their mares through when they choose to use a much bigger stallion! Well done Masons stud!

On the Vekaam Subject still - If anyone knows anyone with a Vekaam progeny pre- masons stud : I.e they would be 5 or 6 years old now - I would love to hear about them......... & see any pics - harriet@masonsstud.co.uk Our eldest is only 4 that we have bred & is proving unbelievably atheltic, trainable, sane, stunning & truly bold! Genuine as it gets !! I only wish I had more of them.....
Jackets Pipedream does not carry enough Arab blood for Offspring to be AHS eligible without them already carrying any Arab blood themselves. Like Vekaam he actually has a similar scar & although he won a lot before he did it he is also, like Vekaam 7/8 years... His eldest is rising 5 this year. A 4 year old Romanno Talk Talk by Pipedream is set to go all the way to HOYS this year. We are putting about 4 of ours at least to him this year.

Hazel - Just read your feed properly & yes sure please do come & see Vekaam might suit. JP is not here till late March & we also have a 3rd resident stallion Dontforgeturshovel (15.2hh Tb).... LITTLETONS DIAMOND GEEZER - our 4 year old by Vekaam is indeed - 50% TB, 25% Arab & 25% Welsh D & my goodness is it a nice mix, so I quite agree. He is a truly exciting prospect.....
