I have recentley been reading through some threads that have or are becoming quite heated !!! And noticed some people commenting Think Before You Post Do you agree or disagree with this, bearing in mind this is an open forum and is named Horse Gossip, i really am unsure whether if no one is actually being NAMED AND SHAMED are we wrong giving our personal opinion, bearing in mind its our opinion and not everyone is going to agree I just find it sad that there is always the matter of taking legal advice mentioned if something is said that doesnt suit someone else, this seems to be happening in all walks off life though doesnt it, ? At the end of the day i dont think or hope that anyone is out to delibratley hurt anyones feeling but we all like to express our opinions differentley , what do you think

Come the day when we are not allowed to express our opinion, we might all just as well shut up shop and go home.
Long live Horse Gossip.

Isnt that the whole point of the forum? To deliver different points of view and opinions? I know some people do kind of go out on a witch hunt sometimes but they cant help it if they feel so strongly about something. Fair enough if people were being named and shamed, but they arn't.

From a mods point of view;
We welcome all opinions here. We don't necessarily agree with them, but we respect your right to hold and express those opinions. However, we do have rules, which are displayed clearly for all to see, and we ask people to abide by them.
In most cases, it is quite possible to say what you want to say, in a tactful and carefully worded post which will not break any rules. Make it clear that you are expressing your own opinion and not a factual statement. Just take a few deep breaths, re read what you have typed, ask yourself if it could be misconstrued, and re-word if you think you need to. Then you can hit the 'post reply' button!

I tend to get a lot off my chest to my cats! Theyre used to me ranting and raviing things like 'hes left that b****y toilet seat up again' or 'thats it leave the washing up for me' or 'my turn to mow the lawn again'. Theyre very good listeners and you dont offend anyone or hurt anyones feelings. My mum always taught me 'if you cant say anything nice dont say anything at all'. But then again I'm not perfect!!! LOL

I know some people do kind of go out on a witch hunt sometimes but they cant help it if they feel so strongly about something. Fair enough if people were being named and shamed, but they arn't. The opportunity to voice an independent opinion should be appreciated and not abused by allowing it to degenerate into a 'witch hunt' or getting personally abusive. Perhaps we should all be more inclined to alert mods/report posts if things seem to be getting heated. All members share a responsibility to ensure the site continues without lawsuits etc, and to do that successfully it has rules. We can't expect the mods to be all-seeing beings (although I know they try LOL )I'm sure member stats can show who is targetting other members just by monitoring their threads, and a basic check can be done by any member, not just mods.
