I went to a show a few days ago. The class my ponies were in are normally poorly attended. For some reason this year a stud arrived who have never attended while I have been going for years and also people who had brought their ponies that had been bred by that same stud. First conversation I had was with a fellow show person who said, well thats it, its gonna be a whitewash. Anyway to cut a long story short in the championship all but one of the ponies were from that stud or bred by that stud. I politely had a word with the judge and said her judging had been noticed and incorrect. The stud had brought some gorgeous ponies along and yes they probably did deserve to win reserve aswell , NO. Other people were there whos ponies should have been placed higher because they had the better ponies in certain classes. So why did this judge do what she did? I am reporting her to the relevant society. But wouldnt you think that the victory was a hollow one for the stud? I would have curled up with embarrassment. :-[I believe that judging should be regulated and like a driving instructor should be re examined every couple of years to make sure that judging is done fairly and accuratley. I am so disheartened that no matter what people say we are looked upon as moaning because we must be bitter for not coming anywhere when that is just not the case. We just want to enter a ring know that it was fairly judged and go home knowing we were beat by a better pony not beaten by what stud owned and showed it. I think the term is Face judging! Is there no wonder that numbers that attend shows are dwindling? they wont enter if they know that someone could drag a pony on three legs round and still win just because of who they are! I do realise there are some very honest and fair judges out there and I do take my hat off to you. You deserve full respect and no matter if my poniy comes 1st or last at least I know its been beaten by better ponies and it has been judged fair.
