been to a show today and got 2nd and went to get prize money and got informed that only 1st got prize money when there was 7 entered in the class. I know times are hard but it costs more to enter at the show and travel there would be nice to get some Prize money. 1st prize got 15 pound they could have split that between 4 !

Definately agree with the above. What gripes me is how tight some shows are about entry tickets. We take 2 lead reins for the same class, and so you would expect to get 4 exhibitors entry tickets so we can all get into the show. One show this year only sent one, expecting us to pay for the other 3 of us to get in on top of the entry fees we had paid. I rang secretary and asked for more and she clearly didnt believe that I was taking both ponies! and had just entered 2 to get extra tickets! Is it not possible to have 2 children who want to ride!! Got some in the end but with a snotty note that I better be taking both ponies!! Do these shows not realise that without the exhibitors there would be nothing for the public to watch therefore no reason to go to the show in the first place. Grrr

Trailblazers have no prize money at all, and the classes are around £46!

We had one of our big agricultural shows up here yesterday.
Membership was £10, entry to classes for members was £4, for non-members it was £8.
You get 2 passes with the first entry and one for each entry after that, plus you get a 'stockmans tea' ticket to go and get a cuppa tea and piece of cake in the morning when you arrive.
We came home with a 2nd (£27 prize money) and a 4th (£15 prize money).
More than chuffed !!! Super show and really can't complain.

That sounds like a brilliant show, poniesrus. It just goes to show (ha ha!) that it can be done, even at the bigger shows.
Why don't you let us know where this was - they deserve to be congratulated.

We went to a local show the other week, they advertised prize money - must add that this wasn't the reason we attended But daughter won her class, and like any other child she was really excited that she was going to get prize money, so off she went to the show office to collect it telling me she was going to get an ice cream on the way back, well i saw her walking back, no ice cream and disappointed face, she came and told me they wouldn't give it her as there wasn't 6 people in the class (there was 5!) Anyway Ash was soon happy again when i sent her off to ice cream man with some money

Herts County this year, Sec C youngstock, 6 entered, one left the ring for messing about, leaving 5 in the ring. 5th didn't even get a rossette, £22 per class to enter from memory. Now that's tight. Can understand them withholding prize money but a rossette? They gave rossettes down to 10th in the ridden, so I think everyone got a rossette in that class.

Bicester and Finmere gave out prize money to 2nd place if less than 6 in the class. Bit it was £50 for 1st and £30 for 2nd. Think that's pretty good. Shame not more turned up as it's a lovely show.
