i am looking after a staffordshire bull terrier for my sister in law. shes 8 years old and generally really happy. shes a little overweight and she doesnt get any excercise at home. she came to my house like a raging bull so i decided to take her on a long walk to blast off some steam! as i feel sorry for her. on the way back from the walk she seemed to have a tiny limp....this has now progressed to her not being able to walk at all! all her legs seemed to be to sore to walk on and shes just managing to hop if shes forced, she isnt her self and is just lay on her bed. i am going to take her to the vets in the morning if shes not improved. just wondering if anyone has any advice?

Check her paws! She could have rubbed them raw due to the unacustommed exercise, what sort of surface was she walking on?

i have checked her paws and they are fine. she was walking on roads and some grass. theres nothing stuck in between her paw pads either which is what i thought it could be at first.

she made quite an improvement over the afternoon so we decided to give her another day or so as she isnt our dog and the owners didnt want a bill from the vets for nothing. shes still very stiff and is limping on one leg but nothing too bad. she can soon bounce around for food. will just see how she goes on.

sounds as if lack of excerise, she may of eaten something like a toad, maybe a poisoned rat, or some thing toxic which would have a similar effect, I would bill up the excerise rather than one big run off, get your inlaws to walk the dog. every day a little walk is better than no walk.
