I have just come back from Equifest and learnt alot about my 2yr old fell. She started off well, but come saturday she had her ears back and despite her lovely large stride (normally) I felt like I was dragging her, she really lacked impulsion. She also fell asleep in the ring and refused to lift her head, despite using the TIC TACS as adviced on here at an earlier date. I am considering In-Hand lessons, although these are costly and all this showing is costing me dearly. When she is resistant she also pokes her nose out, whereas she normally has a lovely natural head carriage. It is very infuriating!!!

perhaps she was just fed up The trend of taking young ponies away for several days, keeping them stabled often in quite small boxes and expecting them to keep smiling without any turnout isn't really what they were bred for. As you started off the week so well, maybe your young pony would prefer to stay for a shorter time and then hopefully you'll have a nice riding pony in a little while with nice clean limbs who enjoys going to parties. Good luck

My young sec D was like that, by saturday I was really beginning to think there was something wrong with him but I think he was just knackered from being away. He only did 3 in hand classes and was eating massive feeds but I think he was desperately missing being turned out and probably wasn't resting very much, he also dropped a lot of weight despite the shire sized feeds. A couple of days at home and he is back to his bright and cheeky self, his belly has dropped and even his coat looks better.

kayjayem, you must have been in the same classes as us, if you were in the mixed breeds 1,2 & 3 yr olds. I did catch her lying down alot and eating like a ganit!!! The problem is she has such good movement, she is normally placed higher than her initial pull in as she just floats, and I feel like this grumpiness is letting her down.
Maybe I am expecting alot of her, we had travelled for 4.5 hrs on weds and had 3 classes on thursday, but we did only have one class every day after that!?

no I was in the barren mare & gelding which was probably even worse as he is only 4 and a bit light as he has just been broken and lost quite a bit of weight then as well and had just started putting it back on. He went to an eventing lady and when I went to collect him she told me he looks much better - he's really fittened up. When I saw him I nearly died he looked ready to run at Ascot lol! She was right though he was fit

Very very good! I really enjoyed it! I was there with my best friend and her hack (she got reserve supreme on Thurs evening (the one that fell off!)) so got to see the show from all sides and the horses seem very happy!
