Had BT broadband delivered today as we've been kicked off AOL (a long story!) Its supposed to be easy to set up! I dont think so! Its now gonna cost me £88 to have them out to install it. I'm not thick but I cant work it out!

I stuck with it, and eventually managed it, but then sacked them off and got free broadband with my orange contract, £15 a month, mobile and broadband.

I work in IT and am pretty PC literate, although am not particularly technical. I've installed broadband twice at home (2 different ISPs over different time periods) and have never had a problem. So when my mum signed up for BT Broadband, I volunteered happily to go and help her set it all up... What a nightmare!!!! It took most of a weekend, and a 2 hour call to the BT helpdesk before we finally got it all working We got there in the end, and the helpdesk call was free so worth persevering. It was hard going though, and definitely required a reasonable familiarity with PCs - my mum, bless her, would never have managed on her own, and she'd only had her very first PC for a couple of weeks.

Apparently we are too far away fom tel exchange to have normal broadband so having it with virgin but through BT phone line, but they say phone line is not a good enough line so have to be updated. Aaargh! House is only 6 years old with new phone line - how can it need updating !!!

Woohoo I've done it!!! It took me a couple of hrs but was really simple when I put the router in the right hole!!! LOL Had a little disagreement with the lady on the end of the phone at BT. I told her I'm not thick you know she spoke to me as if I was simple. Saved myself £88 so can get those girths now!!
