This show is absolutely appaling ! 1) totally agree the commentator sounded drunk and kept mumbiling into the mic and getting numbers mixed up ! 2) Timimg again running at least an hour and 20 mins sat night and sunday night supreme was meant to go in at 9 and didnt go in until 11.10pm there was lead rein and first ridden jockeys in there which probabaly needed to get up for school. They should have made sure after saturday nights evening performances manic timing that sunday should have been run more smoothly! 3) A pony in the hunter ponies was reserve come through on a third and didnt turn up to its hunter pony prelim , yet still come in for its evening performance and manged to get reserve ! How? when it wasn't prelim judged against the others for the championship and was third in its class !VERY STRANGE! 4) People put time and effort going into this evening performance and getting the ponies ready just to trot up one long side and then line up if your not placed you just leave once the results have been called. So some of them ponies waited around in the cold weather for one trot. At least give them a go round!! 5) The ladys who was organising the competitors outside for the evening on Saturday clearing the way etc. Was screaming at the top of her voice move and going on about health & safety which is fair enough ponies were coming out, but she was doing this while bouncing a baby in one hand and having a f*g in the other standing in the doorway. Im sure she was very health & safety bouncing a child around in front of the main ring entrance! VERY CLEVER ! 6) Supreme of show reared when entering the ring! and whenn crowd screamed and clapped for reserves etc it continued to rear and scoot around. Which is fair enough if its excited but not supreme pony behaviour. If it rears surely its should have been dropped! 7) Some of the judges were not even on panels and couldnt tell simple confirmation . Awful show was far better run by angie allison !! HAHAH GUESTS AT IT AGAIN .... as the you are talking about my horse, supreme of the show on a 5 year old theoretically 4 in his first evening performance with me, without ear plugs!!!, also people kicking on the side of the arena i would of said he done quite well , and thats the point he lifted his front feet of the ground a few inches like you say OUTSIDE the ring!!! i take it you did not watch the evening Friday when he went champion hunter and stood like a rock while the other were flying around next door. THANKS TO ALL THE POSITIVE COMMENTS ABOUT THE SUPREME HORSE am very happy as have only had him a week

We were there for the duration and enjoyed most of the show. Yes the evening performances were a bit hectic though running well behind time and the commentator really should be careful. I know he is trying to create an atmosphere yelling down the microphone and encouraging people to clap louder and bang the barriers, but when it is obvious young children (and some adults!!!)are hanging on for dear life on terrified ponies, it is downright dangerous. I was also concerned about the tarmac outside the indoor. Sure last year it was covered with a surface. So annoying that there were no names called out, there were some lovely horses and ponies forward but who were they?
Anyone know who the gorgeous lead rein pony that was brought up from 3rd to reserve champion in the Dun, Roan, Palamino etc champ on Sat night was?. Loved the little girls face!! Talk about thrilled! Well deserved.
Will be back next year as did really enjoy it!

dog pooh and people unable to flush a toilet were a minor problem but i did tell Pat straight away, not hide behind a nick name and whinge, if you have a real issue then put it in writing rather than spouting off on a internet chat site !!!!! V V patahetic if you ask me !! I am on a panel, i judged a variety of classes which i am not on the panels for but thats the whole thing, firstly nice for judges to judge different classes, though the panel i am on you are expected to know about most types etc as you do get a wide variety of animals, by all accounts the only judge changes were where judges didnt appear, or couldnt stay for evening ones THOUGH they were pre judged by original judge and just presented by a stand in judge !!!! Re the pony that slipped, no barriers were provided though after the incident they were sought and used !!!! Extra lighting was also requested for outside. It was a nice show with very few moaners, and i feel if you cannot put a name to your moan then you aint worth listening to and would like to see you do a better job !!!! AND YES I CAN TALK I KNOW HOW BLOODY HARD IT IS TO RUN SHOWS, AND HOW DOWN RIGHT HORRID IT IS TO HAVE NASTY COMMENTS SPURGED ON THE INTERNET .... AND YES I KNOW I AM WRITINGIN CAPITALS AS FEEL NEED TO SHOUT !!!! If you feel there was and issue put pen to paper in a polite manner, and write in, the few of you out there who try and spoil shows, not just on this occasion, with idle gossip and malicious banter, do yourealise that in 10 or so years time when you have peeed off everyone who gives there time up freeley, to bring you any event, that you will have none to go to let alone one at a great venue, with great rosettes and great people !!!!!! I have made some good freinds & aqaintences this week, plus working very hard on my feet for up to 8 hours a day, but thats my job, and was very well looked after, and like to think we did a good job in the classes myself and my co judges, and we will never please everyone or have the same opnions as the next judge, but be a bit bloody boring if we did, anyhow rant over i have just smashed a bottle of chuffing nail varnish in bathroom sink packing away and had to clean with paint brush cleaner and forgotten to open the windows so im a little light headed ---- Whoops

:-/Also think judging very suspect but it seems to be happening all over-- must invite the judges for coffee next year!!! Seems to be the way. They don't even try to hide the fact that there friends are in the ring. Concours was dangerous. The arena is not big enough for 35 horses- no wonder some dipped out. It was chaos in the arena entry way that is why the lady had the bad fall. Her horse got pushed over to the lino and slipped. People had spent hours getting their ponies ready and then just stood in line outside, waited for an hour in the cold and then had to come from the dark into the spotlight and just stand again. Not good enough RL

whatever happends your always going to get some one moaning about the judges because not everyone gets a red rossette, i did not see any classes that was not really fair , could you tell us which classes ?? or just going to hide behind a guest name

Post by flybabe on Sept 7, 2009 17:54:48 GMT
no, no hiding. I watched the part bred class which was awful. Pulled her top 8. One pony, lovely, made a mistake on the go round right in front of the judge and was pulled 5th. this pony then did a cracking show and was completely dropped. No rhyme or reason! Their was no hiding the fact the winner was the judges friend. The championship on Fri for the non native breeds was the same.

no problem
One lady in the veteran in hand was dressed in canary jods smart shirt and waistcoat. She was told that they hoped she had something better to wear for the evening as she looked like she was going riding. She was smarter than a lot

The M&M 1st ridden was a bit strange also. Ponies that napped on the go round and needed the steward to help them out of the line and those that wrong legged in their shows again placed above those that didn't. It seems to be acceptable for these traits in 1st ridden ponies at the moment.

I throughly enjoyed the show ,
would love to have seen more trade stands but they were a friendly bunch and had what i needed/forgotten .
Evening performance's , i never expect these to run on time and getting home 1.45 on friday night and 2.30 last night yes did make a long day .
It is a show that tries to cater for all and i think it did this .
Well done Pat and and all your team and after all it wouldnt be a good show if people didnt have something to moan about ..
I will be trying to go back next year , not with Ali , if i have my way maternity duties will be on the agenda for her ..

Ok first things first. I would like to congratulate the RL team for putting on a wonderful show we had a great few days, I would also like to say a big thank you to Betsy and her team who were always cheerful and so helpful.
A big thank you to the two laddies that were at the secretary's table sorting the entries, despite having some trying times they were only to happy to put you right when things were a little fraught.
A huge well done to denzile2008 and team your horse is magnificent a well deserved winner.
Another huge well done to gypsy1 for your supreme in-hand, your mare remained a lady even when my boy was thinking naughty thoughts toward her (he has a thing about big women).
Finally can I say a very big thank you to the audience for all the cheering every time my boy came into the ring you made a very memorable evening even more special and I cant begin to put into words how much my family appreciated all your support. As for the people moaning, I'm not even going to bother to make any replies it would just not be worth the effort, and why spoil some very happy memories for a mindless few.

1 thing which I really hope will be sorted for future shows will be the walk way from the outside into the main arena. it shouldn’t have had to take both a horse and rider to fall to the floor, and a horse to try to get up at least 4 times of a floor which was as slippy as an ice skating ring to put barriers or something up to guide horses into the ring, and as for them galloping out of the main arena onto concrete are they mad or just stupid?
