Got back from Royal London this morning and OMG what can I say. I know shows of these size take some organising but the evening performances on the last 2 nights - MAYHEM!!! 1. The commentator - you could barely understand what he was saying. Someone said he sounded like the Worzels after too much cider! 2. Calling numbers forward - no ponies names or anything so no-one had any idea who anyone was. As most of the championships were pre-judged it wouldnt take much to get their names for the evening..... 3. The 'go round' for the riddens in the evening - erm one trot down the long side and then stand in the corner for others to come in and then line-up. It takes AGES to get ready for the evenings so the least they could do is let people have a trot and a canter around! 4. TIMING!! Sooooooooooooooo late running (about an hour an a half at our estimation last night!) - I actually felt sorry for the woman on the door as she had a constant stream of people asking how long til 'xyz.' The Pre-judging for the pairs was held in the main ring collecting ring in the PITCH black? ! 5. Pre-Judging - Why have it when all they did was a go round, line-up, judges looked at them. You can do that in an evening, if you are quick enough. Then in one championship last night, a pony was reserve that wasnt even there for the pre-judging, erm, HOW?!!!! I suspect we have all become so used to the slick way in which PUK/BSPS run that it is very obvious when things dont go so smoothly. On a plus point, the rosettes and sashes were AMAZING.

I was in the evening concours on friday night and found it to be very nerve racking. Luckily i was on a calm pony but i felt for the people on fizzy ponies. I do feel that there needs to be something done to make it a bit safer etc and im sure this will come in time.

I went up to watch some of our yards ponies last night. Some of the ponies in the evening were VERY on their toes, almost to the point of being scary. I suspect that most of them arent used to evening performances and the electric atmosphere so werent prepared for it.
Also watching some of them gallop out straight onto the concrete outside was just scary. The stewards should have made them trot out - we were just waiting for something to slip as it went from surface to concrete at the gallop (shudder)

I do love the royal london but i have a few niggles; yes i hate the calling out of numbers too, can we have names please?
Cant understand the guy on the mike-never have been able too! And he always gets the numbers mixed up every year.
One little girl fell off and the guy on the mike carried on winding up the crowd!!!! Errrrrr
Miles to walk from the day parking to the rings, my legs are killing me, back up there again later! Guess thats not rl's fault though!
God awful echo in the main areana in the evenings?? Didnt have it at equifest? Could that have been setting every thing off??
It's still an ace show though, im just picking, beautiful rosettes and sashes, friendly people, huge classes- 19 in mine!!!! I know Pat will read this so thanks for a good show, see you next year!!!

You cant have names when you take entries on the day, as not all catalogued etc !!!
Re the delays with huge classes in the day you do get a knock on effect !!!
The commentator is Pats Husband and has a strong accent and i though he did a good job if you can do better then go do it yourself !
AND fianlly if its such a Farce ... Farce as you like to call yourself, then go do better yourself, or even better why not actually put a name to your complaint or do it in the correct manner !!!!
you will never please all of the people all of the time, only some some of the time, rather than whinge, if you think you can do a better job then get off your sorry moaning ass and crack on with it !

This show is absolutley appaling !
1) totally agree the commentator sounded drunk and kept mumbiling into the mic and getting numbers mixed up !
2) Timimg again running at least an hour and 20 mins sat night and sunday night supreme was meant to go in at 9 and didnt go in until 11.10pm there was lead rein and first ridden jockeys in there which probabaly needed to get up for school. They should have made sure after saturday nights evening performances manic timing that sunday should have been run more smoothly!
3) A pony in the hunter ponies was reserve come through on a third and didnt turn up to its hunter pony prelim , yet still come in for its evening performance and manged to get reserve ! How? when it wasn't prelim judged against the others for the championship and was third in its class !VERY STRANGE!
4) People put time and effort going into this evening performance and getting the ponies ready just to trot up one long side and then line up if your not placed you just leave once the results have been called. So some of them ponies waited around in the cold weather for one trot. At least give them a go round!!
5) The ladys who was organising the competitors outside for the evening on Saturday clearing the way etc. Was screaming at the top of her voice move and going on about health & safety which is fair enough ponies were coming out, but she was doing this while bouncing a baby in one hand and having a f*g in the other standing in the doorway. Im sure she was very health & safety bouncing a child around in front of the main ring entrance! VERY CLEVER !
6) Supreme of show reared when entering the ring! and whenn crowd screamed and clapped for reserves etc it continued to rear and scoot around. Which is fair enough if its excited but not supreme pony behaviour. If it rears surely its should have been dropped!
7) Some of the judges were not even on panels and couldnt tell simple confirmation .
Awful show was far better run by angie allison !!

Firstly, we had a very enjoyable show. Our 2nd visit and will return next year.
Secondly, Totally agree the commentator was below par. You couldnt understand what he was saying, yes he DID get numbers wrong and yes he DID go ott when some did lap of honour- especially the children. Affraid when commentating you have to be audible!
Thirdly, Yes it would be appreciated if people with dogs did clear the mess up. Someone had even left dog mess where the indoor trade stands were. If you cant be arsed to clear it up then please dont take your pooch. Although this isn't just a RL problem, it happens at every show.
Finally, Emmajane no-one, from what i have read, is moaning. They ARE just stating facts, which I'm sure will be taken on board by Pat and team. The way you have replied, I must say, is very uncalled for and alittle offensive!

We got back last night. Have always enjoyed this show although I am a lucky parent of an extremely safe pony so can be relaxed when she was in the ring regardless of the hype. Think it would be nice in the JNR classes to give every one a rosette that goes through though.
Both my daughters got through on 3rd places and were pleased to do that, I explained they would be just going in for fun not for a place but my little one is just 6 and was in the young handler. She thought her number was called out as champion, she had checked it herself in the ring and kept checking, it was folded over so she saw the last two numbers 76 and they called out 776 she was 676. I was in tears for her and felt powerless as she shot forward out the line up to the centre spot thinking she was champion. Commentator was ever so good and spoke to her and gave her a rosette but she was and still is absolutely devastated. So agree, names would be helpful for the small people.

A great show, the ONLY thing that I would suggest is that could the floodlights on the back of the indoor arena not have been USED? Was a bit lethal out there in the pitch black, for people waiting, coming in and out, not least to say how on earth some of the classes were "pre judged" in the dark I don't know!
Also, I hope the pony that went on the slippy floor in the indoor on Friday concours is okay, very scary moment for all who were around.

The pony who slipped Friday night was stabled next to me and seemed ok later on that evening. I think he was just stiff after. Totally agree about the lighting outside, it was extremely dark and made it very startling for ponies going into the bright lights of the arena.

Do you run or organise a show , if so maybe we could all come and critisise everything you do , using a Guest name of course I would suggest you read what I have written! I WASNT complaining. If you bother to read it properly the very first thing I said was we enjoyed our 2nd visit and would go back next year. BUT...............The commentator WAS difficult to understand. There were dog owners who didnt clean up after them. This was an observation. Surely you wouldn't have liked to have walked in it? Or maybe, in your eyes, it IS acceptable to let your dog foul in an indoor areana right outside a trade stand and just leave it there? ?? Does it really matter where I go??? Do I have to get permission??But, as you seem so interested yes I do run shows. You will also find me at most show, up and down the country. I also only comment on shows that I actually attend, unlike yourself who doesn't go but then has a pop at anyone and everyone who makes either an observation or remark. Please feel free to critisise, as long as you actually attend them! Also, being a guest isnt really any different to members. We ALL hide behind nicknames- FACT!

Oh sooo defensive I didnt say anyone was right or wrong just pointing out that you never see a good side or compliment anything on here !!!! Therefore dont have a go at me, as for us all hiding behing guests names, i think not because if you click on my profile you will see my e mail address , i dont think that is hiding do you Niether was Emmajane and i didnt think her comment was uncalled for or offensive, just stating that people put a lot of hard work into the weekend for the likes of you to enjoy or in your case whinge about ,

The chap on the mike at night had me in fits, he was so bad he kept saying " was that good or what" they need to sort that i don't care who's husband he is. You can get names even if they have entered on the day that is total rubbish.
The judge changes were a joke if i had known we would keep going under the same judges rather than new ones i would not have bothered and that they were not panel judges.
NEVER EVER WILL I GO AGAIN ONLY IF I NEED A LAUGH!!!!!
What a waste of money

My dear Ellieraga I wasn't being defensive either. Do you actually ever read, what someone posts properly?? All I have done is stated some facts. You are on about guests, but, you are loading the gun- so to speak. Guests are entitled to their say, as much as you are. I am just airing things that others are also pointing out. We cant all be wrong? Would you like all of us (who actually DID attend the show) to be shot at dawn? I shall now go and beat myself with birch twigs, for being a naughty girl!!!!

Makes me now realize how good BSPS puk nps and equifest are, as they are so well run and have real judges, not just ones that are there, so they are sent off to judge as they have spare time and no one turns up.

Mayhem I'm a 'real judge'! I didnt judge anything other than the classes I was down (in the schedule) to do. I had some lovely ponies and some really polite little jockeys. (lead reins and first riddens) Sorry to the mums of the first riddens, if your child came out asking for a hot choc drink!!!! This may seem strange to most of you, but the people concerned will know....please tell little Olivia I was very proud, of her, for overcoming her nerves. Hope next time will be a little easier for her. X
