Many of the Professionals will be at Addingly this weekend so the GwynBeth monies are there to be won. Not that we worry about going head to head with the Pros in this sort if class as the marking system levels the playing field. I have received my entrants pack for the class - very professional. I even have a timetable and an invitation to the Competitors drinks reception to meet the Sponsors. Anyone else going? I wish I had more than one horse. I am going in the Hack Class. If the horse I want to borrow is available I will put him in the Intermediate. In the pack was also a form to complete with info on me and my horse that the Organisers can relay to the crowd when I enter or during the class. I have not told any lies but I do look good on paper!!!!!!Well a little praise does one good. Hope to meet up with anyone who is going. I am going to stay for the weekend and enter the SWPA classes as well. come on GwynBeth entrants - lets make a statement on the night - WE WANT TO WIN - (and its cash) Link to Post - Back to Top Logged

You have posted the same message on 3 different posts.
Are you an SWPA committee member perhaps?

I can absolutely assure you I am not and why would you think so? I work hard to support my horse and when there is a chance to win some money, I thought everyone would like to know. I find it quote difficult to understand such suspicion. Even if I was on a Committee with any Society there is absolutely nothing wrong in promoting a class which others have sponsored and we have a chance to win some good monies. I suggest you try and see some good in some people.

a few thoughts about the gwynbeth. brilliant to see some serious amounts of prize money on offer.
it was a little too long, 4 hours in the night until after midnight is not fair on the horses really. possibly quicken this by having a preliminary round at the back of the ring with a 3rd judge then move onto individual for each section. with a 4th judge giving the star appeal mark. potentially a good format with the scores, but i am confused as to how the horse that came second managed to, as it was placed above its section winner. i hope that it grows and we see more competitors there next year.

Three posts - where do you find such nastiness - it is people like you that really do such damage to our sport with new guests possibly looking on. I had never been on a forum such as this and only did so out of goodwill with no gain in any shape or form. I thought the class was a really good idea and the prize money exceptional. Are you saying the class was fixed and that the judges were bought. Absolutely disgusting suggestion and if you really believe it then raise an objection and I will meet with you and the judges and organisers. I because of bad luck did not enter and wish that I could have. I hope the winners see this and maybe one of them figure out who you are - or maybe you would like to name yourself and justify such a statement. I am sure the judges - who are known to be extremely unbiased and fair would love to hear from you. The marking sheets are available as the scores were recorded and the judges did not confer in the ring - were you there to see it? Yes, it went on a little bit but it was the first shot at the format and I, for one, hope they do it next year and the year after that and more. As for the organisers - well done for staging it and to the jduges - well done and Ms Edgar - loved your outfit.

I was at the show - the night was great if a tad too long. Loved Ms Edgar - what a show. I entered but did not get through to phase 2 with her and was sad but she was right my horse did not go well under the lights and noise. I had a learning night and am all the better for it. I will be there next year if they run it.

I was lucky enough to be the winner of the Gwynbeth with my horse Johndoe-W, can I just say what a fantastic competition this was and full credit should go to the organisers, sponsors and competitors, well done and thank you!! Just to clarify for anyone reading the above, I have never met these judges before or shown under them. There were some fabulous horses in there on Friday night and many deserved winners. Good luck to all those competing next year and well done to this year's competitors.

i was also in the gwynbeth on friday night on my coloured stallion and was over the moon to get through to the second phase he was just wonderful he has never done anything like that before we didnt end up getting placed but i really dont care it was a fab experience and a wonderful idea i hope it carries on for many more years to come i for one shall definately be entering again. Unfortunately its always the same ones moaning the ones stood by the side lines who darent take their horse in to be judged against all the fantastic horses that are entered Green eyes springs to mind!!

i am not saying that the class was fixed, i am saying as someone who was watching i didnt understand how a winner of a section could be beaten by another in that section. I was there until the end.
i think there were several people who thought it took longer and i am trying constructively to suggest a way to make the class quicker for all, so you could increase the catergories maybe.
aplologies for airing my opinion, however i am entitled to them, as are you.
and correct me if i'm wrong but i did say it was "brilliant to see some serious amounts of money on offer. " and that "i hope it grows and we see more competitors next year"

i didnt understand how a winner of a section could be beaten by another in that section. Hi ws, I think I can help explain this, the winner of the sections were the result of the marks for phases 2 and 3 being added together (show and conf) thus making a class type result. Once this result was given the mark for 'star quality' was given thus making the gwynbeth section of the class, it was this mark that altered the placing. The easiest way I had it explained to me was one placing for the class effectively and an overall for the Gwynbeth with the extra mark included. I hope that helps and hasn't confused you even more but that was how I understood it as a competitor.

It was a fabulous weekend from start to finish – Friday night was brilliant. A live young lady singer ring side – who kept every one entertained with her superb voice, Brilliant atmosphere all round and some beautiful Horses Forward to contest the Big Money Prize – Well Done to you all you looked amazing I think the section winner could be piped to the post as one Judge had 10 points to award for Star Quality – So this made the competition even more wide open.
I was only a spectator but loved the evening - and as well as thank the organisers and sponsors i would like to thank everyone that entered as by doing so you gave a lot of people a good evenings showing to watch

We had a fab time too at SWPA, lovely relaxing show and wonderful weather - although not involved in Gwynbeth as only having Shetlands - we had Miniature Horse - 1st and Res Champ Veteran - 1st and Champ Missed the M & Ms on Sunday as had to go to VHS Regional at Bicton - took Res Champ there too! Poor Luke - he had to have his breakfast at 4.30 Sunday morning; then on the lorry at 6.00; he was NOT amused as he was sleeping both times; but he pulled out all the stops for us when he got there! We are still recovering- we don't like mornings eiher!

I have been judged by Ms Edgar - not a problem with her judgement at all. She knows a good horse. Russell Marks judged my M&Ms last Season - another one that goes for the best in class. Good choice for judges. I hope they run the Gwybbeth next year - there will be some competition. Hs anyone heard if they are serious about next year? I would like to book my place asap after Christmas because I reckon there will be dozens more and they may limit the section entries. I like to plan my year early - sad but sensible. HAs anyone any update? Where eill I keep up todate with the latest news on it? Isn,t it nice to have good news!!!!!

it is believed that the Gwynbeth will be M&M"s next year.....i am told that after this show this year they will tweak it in a few ways....ie..prelim judging phase one in the daytime...and then going onto phase two for the evening. I too agree it went on a little too long( even though a very good class to watch!!)........time was also lost due to the air ambulance arriving.....something that NO show can stop from happening!!... Cant wait until next years show!!!!!!! A huge thanks to all concerned for a fabulous 3 days away!!

I am very annoyed. I have just looked on the RoR Website and I see that SWPA had an RoR qualifier for 2010. I do take an interest in RoR and I didn't know that SWPA had this qualifier.
Only one result is posted so I assume that there was only one entry in the class.

Does anyone know if any of the sections winners had also, at other show,s qualified for HOYS, RIHS., It would be interesting to know how many top horses were in the final line up. I do not mean this enquiry to be treated as a critisicm it is just a question to settle a discussion about the fact that many non HOYS horses had a chance and were in the final 24 then 12. I am sure there were some HOYS etc - as there should be.

I know a number in the 24 were previous hoys contenders etc, Emma Gibson's hunter, Pritchard's Coloured Section Winner, Emma Wilde's Intermediate who won the overall, the Intermediate section winner Weggs ? Mountain (Sorry can't remember it's correct name) and those are just off the top of my head, sorry I can't recall other names to hand. To match this though there were a number of top quality animals in the top 12 line up and just because an animal hasn't been to hoys doesn't mean it's lesser an animal. Everyone was on a level playing field there and everyone whether Home Produced/ Produced/ Previously HOYS,RIHS qualified or not had an equal chance. It was definitely judged on how they went on the night.

Only one result is posted so I assume that there was only one entry in the class. I too felt the same way. There were 3 in the class apparently, I can't really take anything away from the winner but its no good as we need more of these classes in Wales and low numbers are not going to help. They also ran one on the same day at Usk. I waited all year for one to come to Wales (Wales and West Hunter show, luckily I got my ticket) and then they run 2 on the same day in Wales right at the end of the year with no advertising. SWPA even offered to run it on the Sunday! Sorry rant over!
