Arggghhhh Okay so last weekend i was grooming for some friends doing HOYS qualifiers at moreton-in-marsh. My friend was in the hoys first ridden and hoys open ridden, in the first class she did she was pulled in 10th and everyone else was placed too & given rossettes. But those fantastic judges then said that they had screwed up the marks and the rossettes were taken away from them and they were put back into the line up. Guess what. She came back to the lorry empty handed Then in her second class, the first ridden, she did an AMAZING show on her shettie, she was perfect!!! But no the judge prefers the pretty pretty welshies, one of which was LAME and was still PULLED UP HIGHER she was told she was placed, again the rossettes given out, put they told her theyd mixed up the marks AGAIN and she wasnt in the line up, so her anf the other children were given a 'thankyou for turning up' rossette each. What a waste of a journey. Grrrrrrr why is it that these judges are putting up flashy ponies, regardless whether they can move nicely and confirmation ect. Has anyone else had this extremely frustrating problem? ??

How unprofessional!!!!!!! Poor kid how old is she? That's so unfair for the kids, OK some Judges have their preferences of breed etc etc (There have been sooooooo many comments about judges and their choice) but too get the marks wrong not once but twice Well it's just shocking, more care should be taken when children are involved.

I thought the marks should be added up by the steward. Its the judges job to check they have added them up right before they give out Rosettes. So was it the Judges or the stewards.?

At least you didn't suffer this judge. At quite a large Agricultural Show the Coloured Class entered the ring. She lined them up went down the line and looked at their FEET and then placed them. No individual show or anything. Beat that one. Can only guess that she had visited the beer tent.

I really can't understand how this can happen. If you are stewarding (and on the ball) there is plenty of time to double and triple check the adding up. If your mental arthmetic is not good - use a calculator. Most judges use the marks to give them the result they want anyway (and I do mean this in a good way) so they normally cast an eye over the final results before they are announced, to check the results are roughly what they expected. I can't believe this happened twice in one day. As a steward, if you get your fingers burnt once, you don't normally get it wrong again!
