personally I think you could attach a pair of side reins in the same way and they would do the same job. In case of a stumble or something a horse might need to raise its head suddenly for balance, and this would stop that from happening and/or punish the horse for doing so wouldnt it? just my opinion....

I take it that means you didnt like my comment...lol! You asked what people think of harbridge so of course anyone who has an opinion CAN comment, as I did. Just in case it makes a difference to you I have used one, although you did not state that that was a criteria for being 'allowed' to comment on your thread!!! Personally I dont think any 'gadget' is as effective as consistent correct schooling, although the manufacturers and retailers of these things will always tell you differently. I have found there are lots of extremely knowledgable people who post on here, and if you make a post detailing any problems you are having they are always ready to help with some excellent advice. x

had a harbridge on our section a just for lunging. Personally I loved it, and would happily use again on any of our ponies.

yes, thinking about it, she also wore it for ridden work when we first got her. And I have been advised to hack our other pony out in it.

I have one and have used it on certain ponies.
They are a "gadget" and should only be used if you know how to fit properly and are experienced, although I think much kinder and more acceptable than draw reins.
I prefer side reins for lunging and I have used the harbridge for ridden work occasionally on one particular pony.
To be frank, they will make your horse/pony put its head down but they will not make it work on the bit, only schooling and improving riding will do that.

No, no, don't hack in it. If a pony should play up or should slip or trip, they can get a leg over it.

I have used this, but would choose draw reins over the harbridge as they arn't a fixed contact. You can shorten/lengthen as required.
