the conformations marks are terrible, she made it very clear that only dartmoors were to do any good, all the welsh a's have been given poor marks.

No Casper got the third highest mark of the class and the likes of showman got (in comparison to others) a good mark. She obviously just liked the honeyman and buckthorn stamp of pony. But she did have a massive influence over the results.

Honeyman and buckthorn couldnt be more different as dartmoors go, there are some very good ponies in there with terrible conf marks! I cant believe some of them- 7 for K Peterpan!!

We couldn't believe them either!! OK, so Joe did have "ants in his pants" and didn't want to stand still to begin with but surely knock him one mark off not give him an insulting 7!! As I have already put on another thread we were thrilled with the way that he went - Katy rode him to perfection meeting every fence on the right stride and doing a fab show (not bad for a 9 year old jockey) and hopefully we will be back next year for another go - lets hope the conf judge knows a good pony when he/she sees one in 2010!!! ;D ;D

What happened to Dryknowl Ennar? Why did he withdraw?

Dryknowl Ennar was up ready to jump and I think they walked the course but he then went out of the collecting ring and didn't jump.

Can someone tell me....when the whole class jump before the ride/conf phase - which judge gives the jumping mark..or is it a joint decision?
Thanks.

Can someone tell me....when the whole class jump before the ride/conf phase - which judge gives the jumping mark..or is it a joint decision? Thanks. all jump first - ML was jump judge. then the class is split, half do shows (judged by ML) and half do conf (Miss Custerson i think?) then they swap. So unlike the qualifiers, one judge does the jumping & ride, and the other just does the conformation. I wonder if the judge realised she'd just give a previous CUDDY champion 7/20 for conformation.

MODIFIED ie removed by Artistic as I had inadvertantly credited the wrong pony with the top jumping mark and I really don't want to upset anyone.

artistic I dont find your remarks funny or amusing in the slightest, it is only you and a few others who are giggling! I think your remarks are bad sportsmanship plain and simple! Do you ever give a thought to the ponies, owners and riders thoughts and feelings before such remarks are made? I doubt it? And Briars Amaretto got the top jumping mark!

Incredible! Well, it gives us all something to aim for - you need to clout several and use a hold, hold, hold, release technique if you want to be certain of the top jumping mark!(Don't know how Caspar sneaked in then with a perfectly smooth, hit the sweet spot at every fence, glide over without ever touching one, hypnotically rythmic and beautiful round!) and a wide open mouth is not only desirable but essential to clinch that top show mark! We live and learn! I am giggling and truly don't mind - he's a lovely pony. ps: apart from showing my pony these marks, how do I persuade her to hold her mouth as if for the dentist during her show? I am very insulted by what you have written above, I am the rider of the pony who gained the top jumping mark in that class. We did not touch a single fence and at no point did my pony go round with her mouth open. I do not hold her then release her just before the jump, infact we had a lot of people come up to us both after her round and several times during the day and tell us how fantastic they thought her round was. Not only did she manage to gain the top jumping mark in her class at hoys but she also managed to get the top jumping mark at the RI. Before you decided to slate people and their ponies just think who you may be upsetting. I am an adult and can ignore what you are saying, i could however have been a child reading this and i dread to think how i would have reacted.

WHP - I can't apologise enough if you thought I meant you - I absolutely didn't and you did the most beautiful round, which I think I have acknowledged on another thread. Have just re-read my comments and can quite see that you think I meant you but that is MY mistake - I meant the winner but have not written that clearly. No, your pony was foot perfect with a round as smooth as anything - and to Sallymean too, I fully apologise for upsetting you and should have been more careful in my accuracy. But the winner DID hit 3 fences, and DID have his mouth open - I still love him, but that's fact. To anyone I have offended, please accept my absolute apology - I have been innacurate here because I forgot momentarily that Amaretto got the top jumping mark and I jolly well shouldn't have done - it was an immaculate round and I loved watching it. I promise you there is no bad sportsmanship involved - anyone who knows me will tell you that. It was a lovely class which I enjoyed enormously and you and the other ponies in it have given me nothing but great pleasure. I loved your RI round too, am a great fan of yours and just couldn't bear to think I had upset you which was never my intention - I'm so sorry.

That is ok i am over it ;D I am usually easy going but just remember that not everyone is and some people are very easy to upset. Im glad you liked our round Kanga really does live to jump and i dont think she will ever jump a round as good as the RI this year (last years was not bad either!!) Good luck to everyone in 2010!!

Amaretto's round was indeed fantastic - and i've got it on video to prove it - didn't get around to uploading it with the flat ones before I went away, but will try and get it on youtube tonight. I've got porridge and brether too but not honeyman.

We all say things sometimes (or write them), and then take a step back and realise they sounded very different in our head - i do it a lot. I'm sorry if i have made you feel this bad

None of the rounds I saw warranted a mark that was in double figures let alone the highest mark in any whp class least of all at Hoys! K Peter pan always jumps a lovely round at a steady canter like a good nursery stakes pony should, the video I have just watched the ponies were too fast and it looks like the jockeys should have quit small ponies years ago. Leave it for the children to enjoy these classes they are not for adults.

Didn't know the HOYS 122 class, was a nursery stakes class! Thats new to me, so until, it states nursery stakes on the entry forms! They were all good enough to get there and those 122 tracks are not 1 foot cross poles! Leave it alone, its done!

I am flattered that Joe has a 'Peterpan Fan' but actually when jumping open classes with the 'biggies' we do wind him up a gear in order to jump what I would call 'an open round' and then steady him up if jumping a nursery class! This is what is so brill about him - he lets us chop and change according to the situation. Although personally disappointed with the HOYS result (Katy was thrilled which is what really counts) I do agree with Cassie - it's over with - lets move on .... Would love to know how to watch the video on youtube tho' - please could someone enlighten me!!
