I have thought about using these for a while so the other day I got a 15kg bag to try. I was assured that it would be the equivalent of 1 1/2 bales of shavings. What a load of rubbish. I ended up with nearly enough to do my rabbit hutch and yes I did add 7 litres of water and then a bit more. I feel totally ripped off. They are rubbish.

I have just had a ton of the Liverpool Wood Pellets delivered. Ordered late on a Thursday afternoon delivered Saturday morning. They are great. I opted for the 10 kg bags (I ton for £213 delivered) I think you need to do a whole bed with it, not just put in one bag? It is a bit trial and error to start with as to how much water to add, but when you get it right, they swell right up and are then just like a shavings bed, well I suppose they are a shavings bed.

How much a bag were they? Do they have a minimum order?

Mine were £5.50 a bag and I reckon I would have needed to buy at least 20 bags to make a half decent bed.

We have just put down a new bed of Aquamax paid £4.95 a bag! used 8 bags and made a nice bed! Only problem very easy to muck out but using normal shavings fork leaves little bits of droppings in bed! Apart from that, seems very good

Mine were £213 a tonne. Comes in 10kg bags (you can opt for 15kg) so it was £2.13 a bag. Think in the normal 12 x 12 boxes we put 6 bales over the rubber mats. And would usually use 4 - 5 bales of shavings as an equivalent.
Lovepink - you can buy just one bag, but think the minimum delivery is half a ton. Have a look on their website. Think its liverpoolwoodpellets.co.uk or similar!
I think it will work out much cheaper than shavings! And very easy to muck out. Shows how easy it is as I have changed some which are usually bedded on our own, home produced (therefore free to me!!) straw to wood pellets!!

I am already using Aquamax, which I love, but am paying £6 a bag! I need to get costs down, so I better go and look up liverpool pellets!

Just been on the liverpool website. I think they work out the same price as AQUAMAX???
Am I being dim?
Aquamax I buy in 30 lb bags or (13.6 kg) - around £6 per bag
I think the liverpool pellets work out at £6 a bag too? For the same size?

Maths is not my strong point! However, having had another look, it seems if I buy 250 kilo then they do work out £6 for 13.5 kg, but if I buy 500 kilo then they are £4 for 13.5 kg? Is that right?

I have gone ahead and ordered the following LIVERPOOL pellets:- 500kg of wood pellets 6mm in small bags inc del and VAT - Bag Size : 15kg bags - Delivery Location : Delivery in England 1 £150.00 At this price, it should work out half the price I am currently paying for Aquamax. We are going to see exactly how long it lasts and if its as good................?

well done you! Give it a go - I am really pleased with it so far, I think the next ton will show how cost effective it is as obviously with the first lot you are putting down new beds. Very easy to muck to muck out (so my mum tells me). The more you have the cheaper it obviously works out because of the transport. good luck !

As I have been using Aquamax, mixed with shavings, already, I dont need to change over my beds. Well apart from Violet, who is still on shavings, but I will probably just mix hers in to start with. Gradually it will become more and more pellets.
Do you ever take any wet out?

I use liverpool wood pellets and have been using them for about 18 months now. we find them fab - we have rubber mats and just put a bag down as needed. Last time i went and picked them up they had an offer on so i got 1 tonne for £160!!!
I much prefer them to shavings and do think 1 bag lasts the same time as a bale of shavings as you dont need to through as much out!
