Hi,
I was intrigued to see posted dotted around and at the entrances of HOYS with a picture of a guy called Mark Wein and a statement saying do not grant this person access he is a serious security risk!
I just wondered if this was real or a joke? Never seen anything like this at a horse show before!

According to google he was a director of Grandstand Media in December 2007 - looks like they've had a parting of the ways!

I'm happy to tell you all that it was a wind up!
I'm the new MD of Grandstand Media and HOYS and I used to work for Mark Wein when he was the MD & owner of the company. However, Mark sold his interest in the company in 2008 having successfully run the show since 1997. He came to the Show this year as our guest to present a trophy to the winning owner of the Grand Prix.
He is probably the best thing to ever happen to HOYS and we all really miss him! He was a fantastic boss and an inspiration to us all.

Well said Helena. We wish your team all th best with the 2010 planning. nice to see some appreciation for Mark's good work. SAfter all if truth be known he saved HOYS. Can you let us know whether the rumour about the Caldena Arene moving back to where it used to be is true? Also PLEASE can you go back to having a Polytrack arena surface as this year's rode very flat and hard. At Olympia our ponies really ping!

Helena Could I ask you to do one thing for all us competitors, please give us back a decent Foxhunter bar It has never been big enough but this year was truly appalling please help to keep the most prestigius show a pleasure for us all, we spend a fortune trying to qualify then a fortune entering & stabling etc. I know I am speaking for all exibitors or at least the ones I know.

Well said Jinja! Never got in the Foxhunter bar as jam packed every night we were there. Please make it bigger & do something about the competitors seating as well!!

totally agree about the Foxhunter bar Jinga , was far too cramped this year , but did remind me of the way it used to be at Wembley

There were some TV people infront of us talking about the move. Maybe it would be cheaper to rent less space or it could be the the long walk from the stables. Ok when it's sunny but it would be the pits if it rains.

No Ferrett im sure it was never that small at Wembley I always managed to squeeze in at Wembley but not a chance this year. Greandstand Media really need to act upon this request and realise how important it is to all the competitors of the show have somewere we can all go and watch and have a chat to everyone after all the hard work we do during the day. Surely we deserve to be able to relax and have a few drinks with friends whilst watching the evening performances.

There was that enormous food area near the stables that was virtually empty the whole time. Just as you walk out from the main arena through to the entrance to the horse box and stable area. Relatively cheap food and sofas/chairs etc. But no one was using it - well we used it on Sunday between the Supreme pre judging and evening performance as we needed to get food into people quickly to stop them from pegging out!
