11 years black Welsh section D,
Will needs no introduction having been a prolific winner throughout his ridden career, qualified HOYS and RIHS every year been to Olympia and won most major county shows.
We have owned this wonderful pony for 5 years and he has been a loyal friend who has always given 100%, he is the easiest pony we have ever had, he knows his job inside out and never needs working in. However as he will be 12 next season I feel he needs to step down a level, the long journeys seem to be taking it out of him in fact we have cut his shows right down and he has only done 8 this season.
The home I am looking for first and foremost must be a long term one with an experienced family, Will has always enjoyed his showing but now needs more variety in his life. His new home need not be a showing one but it must have excellent off road hacking, something he has never done with us as we live on a very busy main road. Even though Will is so easy to ride at the shows he can be spooky and is a handfull when scared or exited so no novices.
I want Will to spend less time on a lorry and more out hacking having the fun he deserves. I think he needs to go to shows closer to home and stop chasing the big qualifers,he needs a family that want a best friend not a rosette machine and who will want to keep him when his days in the show ring are over.
We have tried jumping him and he is a wimp he will do small fences but would not be brave enough to do the workers. He would also do dressage due to the fact he is beautifully schooled and had lovely paces.
We have had so many family debates about what to do with him and I have lost countless nights sleep worrying about his future. I would love to keep him but we can not give Will the change in life that he deserves. He is far too young to retire to the field and as a gelding we can not breed from him so we have no option but to let him go some were more suitable to his needs.
Parting with Will is truly heartbreaking for me and I owe it to him to find a loving family that will give him a 5 star home. He would excel in junior ridden classes and would be an ideal mother daughter share. He is very much a pony stamp and therefore is not suitable for a large or heavyweight rider.
Wills only vice is he wind sucks when eating, if you can not live with that then he is not for you, because collars do not work.
Home is much more important than money.
Ideally I want a someone who is looking for a horse for life .
I will require references and will want to keep in regular contact with his new owners.
As I break down quite a lot when speaking about parting with him, please only ring me if you really are serious and can offer him the home I am looking for.
Tel 01942 867328 at present my mobile is out of action
I have no photos that I can post however he will be going on HORSEQUEST this week with a photo. He did have a picture in H&H after winning the Championship at North Of England show July 18th and equipics were the photographers so there are pics on line.
Will has now found a new home with Ellis and Kate
