There wasn't really any more this amazing horse could achieve - he retired tonight after winning the Hunter championship - was a very emotional atmosphere but a very fitting place for it to happen. News story here - www.theshowregister.com/news/article.aspx?ID=33

Your memory is not playing tricks.
It is one of the most emotional and evocative things to witness (or to do). Unfortunately I had to leave yesterday before the time of the Hunter Ch, and I was texted with the result and the news of the retirement.
It immediately brought recall memories and a lump to my throat.
Happy hunting!

Finn was in my humble opinion the best we have seen for many a year similar to Sea the Stars in the racing world. I was in tears last night and I expect so were many watching who appreciated a true lightweight and a rider who seems to get a lovely tune from the horse.

Thought it was excellent how he got off and walked finn out. Something I will never forget.

it was wonderful to watch brought a tear to my eye :') I didnt see it but can imagine how emotional it must be . Sllightly o/t but did anyone else watch the BBC programme "A Breed Apart" which was about the Irish Stud which bred Finn McCool . If you didnt ,it is worth watching . The stud owners said you can take a horse out of Baliinteggart but you cant take Ballinteggart out of the horse . I am sure they will have been watching yesterday .

My friend works for Helen at Ballinteggert as head girl- they are extremely proud of Finn and his achievements. If you need a well bred youngster or a stallion they are the place to find it! ;D
