i was watching the small huntes and the horse what charles le moignan was riding was very naughty it would not stand and still pulled throught to final judging and low and behold it went to win the class in the main arena and it was stil naughty. But what a surprise the judge was bound to give it to him cos he had the ride judge which was rosemary connors champion at dublin when he was judging her in dublin. He did his homework on that one. And it was quiet big for a small hunter

This was the biggest certainty of the show! Lovely horse but gave a terrible ride and as you say was a nightmare in the line, upsetting others around it. Hey ho, the rider is no fool, and to give Mrs Connors Champion at Dublin on a 2nd place sure will secure you a HOYS win! He is the worst for it imo.

What a shame that you have to come on here anon. If you haven't got the guts to identify yourself, then your opinions are worthless. Have you seen the ride judge scores? Do you know the conformation marks? Or are you just rumour-mongering? ?? Unfortunately, it would be very difficult to hold a show like HOYS without any competitor knowing any judge - so what do you suggest?

Another class at a big show that is spoken about on horsegossip where Charles Le Moignan wins and in many peoples opinon shouldn't have. Remember the RIHS Hack thread and the countless pages that carried on for. I agree with watcher and boyo the horse was very clearly unsettled.

Can I ask ( I wasn't there) what/ who is the Connors connection to the horse in question??? From what I could see from the results it was owned by P Bowdler or am I wrong? Would its conf and ride mark make up for it being unsettled, was it the out and out winner when it walked in because it was true to type for a change or are you saying it was placed because of it's connections..............surely not at Hoys

I wasn't there at HOYS or Dublin so don't know what happened at either but that's my interpretation of this thread

Right, if you all think a favour was repayed I hope you all put you're money on at the bookies and have reaped the rewards. Untill/if the marks become public knowledge then we will never know because it may well have been the best there. I wasn't there, was it the best.....if unsettled......did it give one of the nicest rides or unsettled in lineup. The fact is that this year the out and out fave's did not take home all the ribbons maybe.........just maybe.........the new/young /owner/riders had better/nicer horses??? I have no connection to the horse/owner/rider/judge but sometimes the nicest animal wins?

In my opinion, the horse gave a very substandard ride. I know it may have felt different than it looked, but I do not consider breaking in and out of canter, head throwing and hanging back to the line to ride better than it looks.
It was a nice type (wouldn't have wanted to be any more foreign) but I would have been very interested to know the ride mark as other horses seemed to be much more mannerly and were placed accordingly. The second horse gave a very good ride and was moved right up the line for example. The initial top two looked to give nice rides and were moved out of the way...
The rider of the winner didn't judge Mrs Connors in her class at Dublin as far as I know, but did judge the championship and that was where he booked his win, by giving her the championship!!

Goodness wendbarry1 - I would have put money on Bing winning the intermediate worker, if I knew you could bet. Debbie Thomas would win the Supreme Pony and Jayne Webber Supreme Horse. I could have had a nice yankee bet and won my fortune. Then I could have bought a fabulous horse and a couple of judges and away I could go but someone wise once said - "It is better to deserve honours and not have them than to have them and not deserve them."

Not quite sure what you mean bundle - are you saying that Debbie Thomas and Jayne Webber should not have won the Supreme?

Of course I don't mean they shouldn't have - just mean that I should have had money on it as it doesn't very often come with any surprises!
