Havannah. Be traditional.

Definitely black tack, my black dartmoor was 9th at hoys and has always worn black tack, brown 'breaks up' the colour too much.

I use black tack on my Shettie, we always do well in tack and turnout classes. Think it looks better, blends in, think brown tack would stand out too much IMO xxx

I think it depends on how heavy set the pony is. I use Black on my shetlands but my fell has brown. Really dark havana is what I would go for, my shelties only wear black as I couldn't get saddles in the type I wanted in brown.

Personal choice nowadays - go with what YOU want to use. My personal choice is to only ever use havana and have mostly black ponies.

I was always taught brown/havana was totally correct for showing. Good Luck.

Brown/havana all the way regardless of the colour of horse/pony.

Definately brown tack for showing but i'd go for a black girth as a brown one would "break" the pony up.

Some true backs do look better with Black Tack rather than dark havanna but it does depend, some greys look better in black too

Great post and I have been thinking exactly the same with my standard shettie. I am having a very dark havana pad made for him and I really like very dark havana tack. Please can you post more pics so I can make a decision too. Thank you Beautiful fell and the black tack looks lovely on him

I always used black tack on my Traditional Coloured everything else has Havannah. I felt whenever I tried brown on her it didnt look quite right as shes not got any brown on her so I felt it drew the eye away from her markings.

I use black on my grey dun because he has black points and hooves, I thought brown would be a bit random to use on him. No complaints from any judges and I don't have tack that covers him either s when I'm in the saddle you can barely see what colour the tack is anyway

Black on true blacks definately, havanah on black/browns The fell in the pic is very black and looks great in his black tack. ..... but as you say black/browns, which my shettie is - personally I think he looks nice in dark havanna. Will wait to see what his summer coat turns out like, can imagine it will get auburn highlights.
