went extremely well ridden by shelley, came across the diagnal superbly in her show I think the pony wasnt in the top ten because it didnt stand still at the beginning of its show.....however well known the pony is, if it cant behave then the judges will use something like that to eliminate contenders....BTW the d that won was gorgeous and very well ridden by Annie P.....i THINK!!!

IMO the judging was very good in all the classes I saw today, including the C and D class. Fab show really well organised and ran like clockwork well done to the organisers and the judges. Well done Ashleigh 3rd in the open large breeds with Fergus of Ranoch Forrest(sp) and Emma 4th in the Novice class with JJ.

Thought the judging was spot on. I wasnt competing just spectating. Christopher Patrick is very much for manners so if "better" ponies would not stand then they would have been punished. (rightly so imo)!

this post just shows how differantly peoople see things doesnt it . a goood trot across the diagonal is only one element of the show not the whole picture.didnt go in the day just for the evening performance ,just going of what people are saying on here !!

Which Olympia qualifier was there?

If your horse has qualified for Olympia, why take it to North West Champs, I thought this show was more for the local level people and is a championship show for them. Sorry if i'm wrong just what i thought the show was for. An OPEN show is exactly that .. open to anyone .... a RESTRICTED show does have limitations as does a NOVICE show BTW the 'Olympia' pony is not mine/no connections and i wasnt even there just thought i would add my twopennyworth! oh yes, Olympia-bound ponies do have to keep going til December you know

Although not the biggest fan of chris or robin I thought they did a fantastic job yesterday and were very fair in all classes. We watched most of the classes yesterday and there were at least 3 or 4 ponies that were of a good county standard in all the ones we watched. The supreme was full of very high quality ponies - most of which have been to HOYS. Maybe pentrumbly April Rose just isnt his type.

[quote author=ninny84 board=results thread=33992 post=312656 time=1255857020...... Maybe pentrumbly April Rose just isnt his type.[/quote] Chris and Robin have bred some extremely successful Welsh D's so they will have a 'type' they like

Why cant people just be happy for those who have done well You pay your money to be judged so therefore its you that have put your self into the position where you may or may not get through and you are asking for the judges opinion on your horse/pony. Why ask for one if you cant handle the feedback Lifes too short to concentrate on silly happenings like this so simply forget about it and just look forward to your next outing and not dwell on this.

I think Chris did judge on manners, my D ended up in 6th place and he told my daughter he had her for reserve, but he messed about when he came into the arena, all be it next to the spectators, but manners are manners and he penalised them for it. I for one was happy with his comment. It was a hugh class filled with quality animals, so well done to all. I also think Chris and Robin did a good job judgeing all day. I have no connections to them but have shown under them before and have always found them to be fair.

;D ;D ;D ;D i was in the D class with mine. couldnt believe it when final numbers were called and 31 had entered this class. it was like all my christmases had come at once and i got pulled into the top ten. ;D ;D ;D nervous was not it. scared, aprehensive sooooo excited. wasn't bothered if i didn't get placed just to be in the top 10 was fantastic and i then go and get placed 5th YIPEEEEEE ;D as you can tell i haven't stopped grinning like a cheshire cat my horse was brilliant and still can't belive the judge picked me!!!!!
billyfitz your daughter spoke to me after the judge had a word and she was certainly puzzled to say the least i have no complaints and thought the judging was fair
