we have had our kitten almost a week and his stools have become loose and have blood in them - or what appears to be blood.
he is also very very vocal. yelping all the time.
we got him from a rescue centre who said he had been deflead and wormed. they provided us some dry feed as part or a kitten pack and advised us to feed the whiskers kitten food in small amounts.
first day he was fine and i gave him a tiny bit of a sachet of the meat, the next day my oh gave him about half a pack. later that ay his stoo;s changed. stopped giving him the meat and left him on the dried food but no change - still soft and red.
he is quite playful but sleeping lots too - when with us. he goes into a room on his own with toys and a bed. if we are in and he is in that room he yelps. not sure if he stops when we go out.
he appears very attached to my other half and cooking tea was a trauma tonight as he is sat at his feet screaming. other half is at the end of his tether.
i tried giving him a forkful of the kitten meat - which he wolfed up - the dry food does not seem to be going down really.
he is 9 weeks old
any suggestions

Not sure but doesnt sound good-I'd get him to a vet as soon as you can. Maybe call the rescue centre he came from for advice but I'd think a vet would be the best bet really. Hope he's ok

Is the yelping in pain or just for attention? Sounds as though he has a bit of enteritis which is not uncommon in kittens who have very sensitive tummies. I would definately say don't give him any milk or dairy products(breeding ground for bad bugs) and try him on boiled chicken or fish in small quantities but often. He may be feeling hungry if his food is going straight through. Try him on the white meat dairy free diet for 24 hrs and if he improves gradually introdue kitten food. If he doesn't improve or deteriorates after 24hrs take him to the vet who should be able to give him something to firm him up and some special food for sensitive tummies til he picks up. Don't worry it's not uncommon to have digestive troubles in little kittens.
