Sadly I have to report that Olga, my husbands Aunt died peacefully last night, at home surrounded by her animals as she wanted to do.
Olga will be well known to 'older' HGossipers . She was very successful with her show horses and before that her show jumpers, throughout the 50's/60's/70's. Always competing at the big London Shows and the County Shows, we have some fantastic pictures of her at White City! She was a tiny little lady and always had huge horses, usually chestnut with lots of white on them
She was quite a tricky character ! but much loved by us all and will be sadly missed. Although her death was not unexpected, it was still a shock
Funeral details are not available yet but if anyone who knew her would like to come along pm me for the details.
RIP x x x

that is a name i remember so well. she had some lovely horses and rode them so well. i have a feeling she would find showing very different now and not for the better.
she was always very pleasant to other competitors and would never be bit*hy when she was beaten and would always tell you if she liked your horse and mean it.
r i p to a lovely lady

That is weird, I hadnt even thought about her for years, but she came into a conversation just the other day, as being one of the most beautiful riders of show horses, and I remember on one occasion she gave me some very helpful advice in the ring when I had a particularly difficult horse, and it worked !! She was so gererous with her knowledge. She will be sadly missed, but I am glad for her she had fiends and animals around her My thoughts with all.

I certainly remember her, from my early Hack days. An amazing, diminutive but quite formidable person, a super rider and a very gutsy lady.

A truely remarkable lady and an amazing horsewoman who taught me so much and will never be forgotten. I was only lucky enough to have known Olga for the past 16 years and feel privileged to have ridden her horses, ridden with her and to have learnt so much from her, Olga had such a unique talent in that even being so tiny her horsewomanship meant the ride that her horses gave you was amazing, so well schooled they were almost effortless and so smooth. She had 'magic hands' and these huge horses would be light as a feather in your hands.
Olga I will miss you and will always remember you as one of the kindest, most genuine and talented people I have ever had the privilige to have known.
RIP xxx Sebastian & Co are lucky to have you back.
Ruth

Just want to say thanks for all the lovely messages and to all those who came to the service today. I think we gave her a good send off! Simon gave a fantastic tribute with some great stories of his Aunt.We were all doing really well til the theme tune to Horse of the Year Show was played at the end and I think that got to everyone!
God Bless You Olga x x x
