OK Guys - schooling training help needed pls. ;D Are there any schooling hints I can do to help build up my ponys chest and shoulders. He is only young, not long broken, and Im hoping he will fill out as he gets older but want to know if I can do anything to help make him larger across the front and get him to use his shoulders to stretch out more. He's still a bit hollow between his front legs and it looks like he should widen up if I can get him to work better. Or is he just too young to do too much yet.

If he is less than 6 you have a while to wait, he'll fill out. Take your time with slow, gentle work. No gadget will build up a horses chest. If you rush you risk leg damage, mouth damage etc. Enjoy him and allow him to mature naturally.

Our clydesdale is very narrow chested - it was picked up on the vetting as she has slight asymmetry on her front feet caused by the narrow chest. However she was only 4 and the vet stated in the report that as she ages and fills out, it will correct itself. She is now 5 and her chest is starting to widen and my farrier commented that her feet are having less wear now. By the time she is 8, she should be full grown and fine.
My gypsy cob at 3 was also narrow chested, at 5 he is starting to really widen and by the time he is 8 should be fully filled out.
I was told just to let them grow slowly and naturally and let time sort it out. Gentle work will help build up the top line, but the chest cannot be made to widen apart from age doing the trick.
