Hi there, just wondered if anyone knew anything about Chancely Stud and the stallion Vean Stonechat. Just like if anyone had anything or knew any ponies from that line that have been successful and what they have done. Thanks

The Holtess Stud have probably the best known Chancley pony- Vesper. You can find more details on their website. I had a Chancley pony when I was younger he was absolutely fabulous, not only in the ring but was a great allrounder, on senior PC jumping teams putting the big horses to shame! He stayed with us for the rest of his days and was wonderful out hunting RIP Nutty you are sadly missed

we had a lovely filly by him oakstead annabel she was very successful in hand as a foal and yearling, he was in the blackpool area, although not heard anything about him recently, would be a decent age tho. He was by mischiefmaker out of vean ladybird there should be picture of him in some of the nps books.

Thanks guys!! Yes she is a lovely pony and we bought her years ago cos I thought she was sweet. We always bought her to sell on and I fell in love with her and she has been with us ever since. We bred the most stunning foal from her a few years ago and sadly lost him at 18mths to an unknown virus. The thing was tho, mare and foal were stunning enough to show from day 1!! I suppose that true quality stock eh.

What breeding is your mare? I always wanted to track down one of my pony's direct relatives, but there don't seem to be many of them around?

She is by Vean Stonechat out of Juliet XI. I believe she is one of very few that are still about.

Ah, Vean Stonechat is a 1/2 brother to Nutcracker's dam (Cynfal Woodlark). V Stoneschat and Cynfal Woodlark also had another Chancley pony- Skylark. You should enter your pony's pedigree on allbreedpedigree.com you can trace back all breeding then

I think i have actually. but i will check. I was really interested in her famous relatives as we have covered her with Ambershire Finishing Touch which has the Pretty Polly breeding, so hopefully we should get something good. It will also be a part bred too.

The first foal i bred was byMischiefmaker, that would have been around 25 years ago. Mischiefmaker was old then and confined to an indoor school i think ,but i can't remember why. He gave me a lovely colt that ended up winning quite alot under saddle. It was certainly a lovely line!

I knew she was special when I found out her breeding. That was after i bought her and she came to us because the owner had a 'new pony' and didnt want her. . She is now blooming and as fat as a p** mare in foal!! lol.

Sadly Mrs Hillman died some years ago but don't know what happened to all the ponies.
