Well I too have jowls around the stomach due to the child birth thing, but the trick is to pull it out like chewing gum and tuck it down your big bridget jones knickers. The pulling out and down is important as otherwise it just goes upwards and hangs over the top. Alternatively ladies and cross dressers could pull it upwards and stick it in the brassier.
For jowls on the face, I find growing the hair to a good lenght and then pulling it back into a tight high pony tail is the key, instant facelift.

Millies mum (and sage&onion) i thought that was a Croydon facelift - tight pony tail like Kate Moss has! Well works for her
HP dont worry about the saggy jowls, a frend of mine swears by a certain face - fixer cream to lift and tighten any saggy bits, apparently it has potent ingrediants that really work & is far more effective than anything by Estee Lauder, Lancome, Chanel etc etc .................. ............................. .....Calls it.....Anusol!!! this is true! HP I dont think you've met this friend before I embarrass anyone!

Also been advised to use it on the corners of horses mouths if sore - same principles. Brilliant stuff - just remember to keep it tucked away, otherwise visitors come out the bathroom giggling! ;D

Hi I'm a little fatty lady, due to the meds I have to take for my bi-polar. We used to have a 14.1 pb Arab that our vet said would easily carry me as arabs carry big blokes accross deserts. I always felt mean getting on him and never for more than 30 mins 'light' work (ha ha) in the school. As my daughter (a real skinny-minnie) became too old for him we had a re-think and have invested in a Cleveland Bay Colt Foal. I'm running round with him (no weight lost but lots of Bacon Butties ingested;-)) and by the time we can ride him he'll surely carry me for the bit of flatwork I enjoy. We larger ladies are aware of our short-commings and it's the very few who invite bad press for us all. What really gets my hackles up is massive teenagers riding little ponies they've obviously grown out of. Now that looks all wrong and in my humble opinion ought to be discouraged.

OK. I'm "a bit on the large" side!! My gripe is that you can't get decent "smart/casual horsey mother" stuff. Large, it seems, in this area of "fashion" is 14/16 or if you are REALLY lucky, 16/18!!! I'm size 24, 53 years of age and can throw bags of feed and bales of hay around with the best of them. BUT I can't look smart on a showground. Especially difficult when I'm judging.

I was having this moan yesterday at a new local boutique round here - nobody stocks bigger sizes! I survive on XL from mail order cats for my horse stuff which is a 20, sorry doesn't help you I know! Some do go bigger but not sure which, will look. If you are in Scotland there is a fantastic shop in Edinburgh for smart stuff, I stock up every year when we go up to the Fringe, worth a look for a judging outfit, and my sister who lives there says there is one in Beaconsfield, again smart stuff. Doubtless expensive though.

I wouldn't let it worry you - I show for a well known stud and the 'boss' always says I'm too fat and that I can't run well enough anymore, doesn't stop me winning with his and my ponies though does it?! I say if people are griping about weight it usually means they haven't got anything better to moan about, I'm well aware I could do with losing a few pounds but that's up to me at the end of the day so it just goes over my head

I agree with you stacey, being of a fuller figure doesn't seem to impair me in the ring, we can still win the odd class , my only complaint would be to show secretaries, could we please have longer strings to tie our numbers on, at the last few shows the strings weren't even long enough to go round my thigh let alone were my waist used to be. ;D

I use plaiting thread. Gives a neater finish as it becomes 'invisible' against your jacket.

Use a piece of thin elastic then you can cut it to the required length!

As long as you don't ride like a suck of spuds...whether you are size 8 or 28....most horses are fine!

Hum, at the risk of being smited left, right and centre, I must admit that I do cringe when I see very large ladies riding side-saddle. At least astride, you can do rising trot, but under side-saddle, that weight acompanied by the weight of a side-saddle is very hard on horses' backs, no matter how strong they are..

napoles I look like a "larger lady" riding side saddle yet only weight 10 1/2st. I am just buxom (my excuse) and yet probably weight less than the taller ladies! Be careful not to judge on outward appearances. I love riding side saddle yet am put off because i dont have the right "look"
