I also had people sending me pics of ponies and horses they had, and wondered if I was interested in doing a swop, all by text message, no actual 'real' phone calls.

I know exactley how you feel and have only just placed ads in other places apart from here , have come to the heart breaking decision to re home my patterdale due to pregnancy In the ads i was completely honest and did state that as a terrier would prefer him not to be re homed with young children, and hoped this was being sensible and honest The phone rings at 6.29am this morning, that annoyed me to start with as i would never ring that early !!! secondly the voice on the other end stated i want the dog as a christmas present for my two kids, aged 2 and 6 months, i replied as a terrier didnt want to re home with young children and certainley wasnt to be used as a christmas present, she replied i didnt think it was a terrier i thought it was a Pitterdale ?? What hope do you have when you try to be honest and you get responses like that, really dont know what to do know as worried sick he might not get the home i hoped for if people cant even read the ads properly

And as a christmas present? It never sinks in with some people does it? If she'd rung me her ear would still have been burning!!

ellieraga we have a weekly newspaper which im sure is available in all parts of the country and its called something like Sportingmans Diary and it has lots of articles/show reports and for sale adverts for lurchers and terriers that may be a good place for you to advertise him as hopefully the people that read it are quite clued up on terriers!! good luck

Besides, Ellieraga, what sort of person would want to give a dog as a present to children aged 2 and 6 months? Wouldn't worry if you were not tactful enough - sounds like they had it coming.

Aah thanks for that, looking back on it i think i was probably harsh but its stressful enough trying to find him the best home possible and being pregnant
To then get some nutter on the phone at 6.30 in the morning wasnt a good start to the day
