A friend has a silver dapple dachs puppy she is trying to persuade me to have What are they like she is completly bias so no good on her opinion!!!! Good and bad opinions please or help me sort out a different breed

Happy to help
The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his Tongue.

well... my pal has a mini short haired and I have to say, he is the funniest, sweetest comical little dog I have ever met....very loving, very naughty (remember they are hounds and therefore belligerent) Hates getting out of bed in the morning... loves his cuddles and sleeping under the duvet with her.... tries to be ferocious, but somehow just cant manage it.... I am an Irish setter owner/breeder, but if I didn't have setters, I would have one of these... great little dogs

Mini dachshunds are the most loyal dog your will meet, they are fab! My dogs will ride out with me keeping up at full gallop, My old girl rides up on top with me. They are cheeky and dont like rain ect. Go for it!

Loyal, loving, gutsy, determined, cheeky, devoted, caring, devious-in-a-totally-charming way, utterly captivating and addictive. I am on my eighth!(not counting home-bred puppies)
Inside every Dachsie is a Doberman trying to escape. But, that mini-doberman also knows that it's a human. Work that one out!

sorry to highjack your post but I have a question on dachs too I remember many years ago knowing a lovely long haired red/ginger coloured dachs called fudge! I dont remember him being that short so I guess not a mini. Everywhere I've looked I can only ever find adverts for minis - do long haired non-minis (standards?) exist or am I remembering him wrong after all these years!

We have recently purchased a long-haired standard Dachshund (black and tan). . .he is the most loving little dog, with a great temperment and character!!

I have a dauxie cross JRT rescue and she is very dauxie in temperment judging by all the comments on here. she is amazing, loyal, commical, also hates to get out of bed in the morning and feels the cold when it goes below 18 degrees! hates rain but loves puddles and swimming, loves her food and can be stubbon at times also of late she is getting very good at faking deafness if she is being asked to do something she would rather not do lol. But love her to bits and wouldn't change her for the world
