As the owner of fatties constantly on a diet, for weight gain I recommend - good grass.

Don't think there is a quick way, one of mine has dropped alot of weight and I rang top spec and found them really helpful, have just put him on a feed balancer, speedy beet, conditioning cubes and top chop. They said to give it 3wks and if no change call them back as there were other things I could try. Maybe worth given them a ring xxx

We give one of ours "sumo" which builds them up also feed full fat linseed, bailey's no 4, bluechip and ready mash extra (rowan barbury). He has put on plenty of weight ( looked like a hat rack when we got him!) and lots of small feeds is always good!

brookhouse - I feed very much like you, not wanting to HOT UP, so lots of fibre.
Several small feeds a day - 4 if you can manage it. Def 3. As much haylage as they will eat.
Calm and Conditon. Chaff with oil. High Fibre Nuts. Pink Powder ( makes them utilise what they are eating and keeps their guts healthy and happy). Carrotts.
If the horse in question wasnt likely to hot up - then could swop high fibre nuts for BUILD UP nuts.

Ive almost given up on wieght gain i feed topspec balancer, a&p calm n condition and a handful of yongstock mix for taste with alfa a.
Fed twice daily some look fab! one other who i have been trying to gain wieght for the last year looks rubish he is out daily and in at night with 1 blanket, a fleece, a full neck light wieght and a light wieght t/o. You may laugh but i cant keep rugs on him he takes them off!!!! If i dont put them on right he is stood shiverin in the morning!
Yes ive tried naf pink powder, equi jewel put shine but that was all!! alfa a oil, soya oil etc etc etc im not changing now if it is going to happen it will if not then its not in his genes!!

obviously I dont know your pony but make sure it is well wormed I like to 5 day worm all may dodgy doers with panacur. And then I always have their teeth done by a dentist not a vet as they seem to have better results. Doctor green is the best(grass) but i would go back to the old fashioned way of boiled barley and also i swear by falcon feeds tlc as fattening and non heating. I would feed him as many times as poss and maybe try milk powder. Try adlib haylage but in a haynet to stop the pooing sugarbeet is good also especially as no grass. good luck!!!!!!!! Keep it warm but be careful not to let it sweat as thats worse than it being cold. Include lots of steady collected work to help lift the top at the same time.

I am feeding boiled linseed to mine for the first time & it's brilliant although none of them were very underweight, just dropped some in this cold weather!

If you PM bootsnsaddles she is amazing at getting the weight on ponies, she has always worked miracles on our ponies. And kept the weight on our B who was stressy for the last year, amazing!

Another vote for Calm and Condition. I've been using it for 2 months now and the difference is amazing, in weight and temperament!! I feed it with Alfa A Oil and an extra dollop of vegeatable oil with some stud nuts on top for the youngsters. Agree with the others though, little and often will be more benefit.
