I have a PB Welsh SHP that was bred at the Fingerpost stud. Her sire is Botleigh Monte Cristo. I can't trace the stud on the WPCS site and want to get info and photos of him. Any one know anything about either the stud or stallion?

No sorry harry but I would love to know too as I used to have a Fingerpost pony who was Bunbury Figaro out of a mare with a french name. Tried to trace the stud too, but no luck. Somewhere in Cheshire or Staffordshire I think, from what I remember ... Will be watching!

Hi i own Fingerpost Palm who Rex Preston also bred, he lived at Delamere Forest. Sox as our pony is known as, is also by Botleigh Monte Cristo out of Bunbury Pansy. Monty is a 13h bay that moves for fun but as Rex died a few years ago we have lost touch with his wife Irene and daughter Helen. Judith

Hi there. As has been said on this thread - Rex died a few years ago now but his wife and daughters still have a few mares and the stallion. Artistic - was the mare with the French name - Simmit Rose D'amoure? I have two Fingerpost mares out of this mare and by Bunbury Mahogany. Rex was a very good friend of mine and is missed deeply, especially his chats about ponies he bred and knew in his lifetime. His wife and daughters do not breed anymore but I am sure they would love to hear about ponies he bred. Irene (his wife) can be contacted on 01928 788754 Rex never bothered with a website as his breeding of ponies both B's and PB's was well known in the area and he never really needed to advertise the stud. He bred some beautiful ponies and all of them have done well. Both my mares can be seen on my website; www.freewebs.com/brandymillwelshbponiesHope this has helped. karen

Yes kt66horses (Karen!) - that's exactly which mare it was. I have sold my Fingerpost pony but am still very much in touch with him - he is a super pony but didn't like people and I should think had been teased very badly at some stage. Would love to see his sisters - do you have anything out of her by Bunbury Figaro which would be his full sister?
Thank you so much

Thanks everyone for your posts so far. I'm interested in your comment that your boy 'doesn't like people'. Can you expand? Although ours is a beautiful pony and has amazing bloodlines, she is either very hormonal or was started badly. Only had her for a 2.5 months so still getting to know her and will decide which or all of the above are true. As she is only 5 we are starting her all over again by doing lots of ground and handling work. Not sure what the spring will bring when she has her real seasons as in December she was squirting over the mare in her field. Despite all of this is she is a lovely girl who with firm and consistent handling will be very showable. Our mare is Fingerpost Pandora and her dam was also Bunbury Pansy.
I will follow up the leads on here and report back my progress. I will load some pics of her, could you put some of yours too judith, so I can compare?

Sadly Monty was pts at the end of last year, I think he was about 28. My friend bred Monty and sold him to Rex when he was a yearling or two year old. We had Botleigh Poppy on lease for two years, herself out of Pansy. Pansy was returned to my friend when Rex died and is still going strong at 28. Judith - I think Palm was out of Poppy, Pansys daughter. I apologise if I'm wrong Heres a pic of Botleigh Poppy, who bred a lot of nice ponies for the Fingerpost Stud Unfortunately I can't find a pic of Pansy, will keep looking though!
