I saw a woman trying to hack out her horse today, on all the black ice and snow! This poor horse, had obviously not been out for weeks (as most of them havnt). It was slipping and napping, as obvioulsy not wanting to proceed down the road she was intending on taking it. Legs were going in every direction and it kept leaping and slipping back into the main road, where the rush hours traffic was! What a stupid stupid woman endangering her horses life like that!

Poor horse. It was probably napping because it knew it wasn't safe to walk on that ground!!!

Thats nothing....a girl who keeps her ponies near to me still managed to give (uninsured, unqualified) lessons at the week end to children on her aged ponies, in about 4 inches of snow on a frozen field......amazing...isn't it??!!?? How does she get away with it? I live in a very horsey area and no one dared to take their ponies anywhere!!!! I firstly would not want to risk my ponies and secondly the risk of children falling off!!! An accident waiting to happen....although she has been getting away with it for over a decade!!!!! How stupid are the parents who drop off their children to this stupid woman? ? They obviously have no idea of the dangers!!!!!

Lovepink I followed a coloured trotter being driven yesterday morning through Swanmore past The Hunters. I say followed cos it was going too fast for me to risk overtaking it in the car!!!

Milliesmum, i worked there for a while, left because of things like this, have 2 friends who still work there who have had to walk there whilst the snow was bad, to keep the yard going, they were still running lessons in the outdoor school up until 9pm at night.
The owner of this place, demanded i washed a fully clipped, elderly horse, who was already feeling cold, down with freezing cold (rain water) in the january i was there. I couldn't do the things she asked and walked.

If so please contact your local Trading Standards and ask if this place is a Licensed Riding Establishment and please could they check up on it as you feel there are unsafe practices there.

I followed one hurtling along the Winchester Road towards Waltham Chase. It was a pacer and its hind legs were about a metre apart. It was going so fast it was frightening, bad enough on safe roads, but on ice I felt like crying for that poor horse

It was frozen sold, if you mean the riding school. But not only that the yard was dangerously icy, the woman doesn't care so long as she makes her dough! Has them all clipped off in at night with 3 heavy rugs on, out in the day naked, she is not normal!

I dont know how she got approved in the first place!! poor ponies are worked til they are literally dropping, the oldest one, was ridden 3 or more hours a day in an abbot davis balancing rein, she said he needed it to help hold him up so i hid it, as she wouldnt use him without it, thing is, first impressions, nothing wrong all looks fine and well, its behind the scenes, when only staff around you can see how bad things are.

how do you know i haven't already? and yes she does do that, turning them out clipped and naked, in at night 3 rugs, or atleast 2 with a blanket!
Alot of things seem unlikely, but horse owners still do them, riding out in the snow, feeding them too much, giving them laminitus, breaking in yearlings, plenty happens, so, whatever it is you are insinuating, spit it out!

Because if you had the riding school in question would of been investigated to with in a inch, also if it had been me being a true horse lover I would not of just left, I would of stayed and had every horse protection agencey I could of thought of turning up on the door step and would of taken great pleasure in showing them exactly what was going on, then I would of left. Still some of us are doers and some just like to moan and do nothing. As this thread has now gone way of topic, which I'm sorry to say I have contributed to I shall lock this thread.
