went to prestige horse show at aintree equestrian center on the 6th of Feb well were do i start i have a young horse that needs warming in be for the class we couldn't warm her in because they let 30 horses in the small warm up arena at one time it was a accident waiting to happen they were charging £17 a class and you couldn't even warm your horse up then at the end of the night just be for the supreme of the show the announced that the show was stopping until all the rubbish on the car parks had been cleaned up when every one who had made the mess had gone home early so they asked us to clean other peoples mess up well am sorry but when Ur paying £17 a class i don't think that you should have to pick other peoples mess up it was very badly organized i strongly recommend people not to go to PRESTIGE EQUINE EVENTS

One persons opinion and only post i see. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and so did the majority of people that attended. ;D Where else would you suggest that the steward gathered all the horses for the next class? The main arena was available for use on at least 2 occasions for warming up, i know because we too had young horses there so we made use of this. The busier classes were also given a few minutes in the ring before the class to have a trot and a canter round as the collecting ring was a bit busy for warming up. I know this as we had ponies in some of the busier classes. All in all for the amount of entries the show had i think the organisers and stewards had everything running brilliantly. ;D And as for the mess well as sick as it is it happens at all the shows but with aintree wanting £3000 from the prestige if they didnt clean up the car park we werent afraid to roll our sleeves up and lend a hand So smite me all you want but if you think you could run a winter show with huge entries and limited space as well as the prestige then crack on, and when you get something organised do please send me a schedule as i would love to enter.............

when we had our class there was classes in the main arena so we COULD'NT warm up it was a joke.!!!!!!!
the rubbish was not our problem they new by running a big show that there would be rubbish so when im paying £17 a class i dont think that i should pick up peoples rubbish up i wasnt the only one who thought that aswell the was about 20 people who thought that too. they should have insurance to cover all that. the rubbish is there responsability

Agree with OB, makes you wonder why people go to the trouble, time, effort and stress, not to mention expense, of running a show when that's the sort of attitude they are faced with.

It wasn't just the competitiors who made a mess, i went to watch and left at the end of the evening, you should have seen all the food wrappers and empty cups left all over the seating area, there was plenty of bins around, think i walked past 4 on my way out, so whats wrong with placing your rubbish in one as you leave the seating areas??
I even heard rumours about people warming up on the race course!!! surely commons sense comes into this, it's no wonder we're loosing these sorts of shows when people behave so badly.

regards the warming up. other shows have been held at aintree with the same problem. We took our young ex racer to another show there and there was a ride judge. we got there stupidly early to get her in the arena before the show started but were told no. we could only use the arena if we were first class in (may i add one particular lorry load of horses could be worked in at any time) needless to say we withdrew her from the ridden. I stress this was not at the prestige show - but at the same venue.
we held the first equestrian event at the new aintree and had stewards on the car park all day walking up and down, telling people to take down haynets and checking rubbish was picked up. Our show finished and we still had to spend till almost 10pm cleaning up rubbish and muck so yes competitors are messy.
On saturday we put all our rubbish in the bin however the seats were full of jelly and all sorts. Were they selling jelly??? I didnt see any!
I think the arena looked fab and hope the organisers take away some of the constructive critism and ignore the rest. This is the only show at aintree so maybe things will improve at the next show which i believe is at south view

as a matter of fact yes we did take home a lovly rossette and sash some of us have realy fab horses but they new that it was going to be realy popular and have loas of people attending so they should have picked a bigger venue so that you could actuly warm your horse up and i put all my rubbish in the bin but i am not picking other peoples rubbish up am sorry!!!!!! when aintree have there own show on they have a cleaning company come in and potter around all day with holding a big show thats what they needed.

i totaly agree people should put there rubbish in the bin but the rubbish that was left at the end of the show was the organisers responsability and if they didnt want to clean it up they should have had contractors in simple as that!!!!!!!!!

We never went to this show however, we went to the show at Alsager. It was really well organised and everyone was friendly. I think it's only fair that they ask you to pick up rubbish, how do they know who dumped the rubbish? From everyone we know who went it was a well organised show and there was working in. Hannah, Scott and the show organisers are lovely people and run the show as best as they can and I'm sure they'll try to improve the next, which we'll definatley be attending. They are really nice people, don't know if it's just us but, we recieved a Christmas card because we competed. They are lovely people, who run a lovely show. They try there best, look how much they must have spent on the venue, rossettes, etc. Surely they don't deserve this? ?

I notice you moaned about your £17 entry fee? Can you imagine what the entry fee would of had to be to cover the costs if Prestige were to hire contractors to clear the car park? Dont be so ridiculous!!!!!! It isnt Prestige's fault that lazy ass competitors cant put rubbish in the bins!

Can I just say at this point that I was at that show and have already had a moan in the appropriate area (on the show thread), the clean up operation did cost the show a lot of money but I don't suppose you have offered to chip in with the costs. I don't think you can blame the show organizers for the lack of warming up facilities that must fall in the lap of the venue and in that I'm in agreement with you, for all the money that place cost to build they never thought of making it user friendly, the little covered area next to the main arena was no way big enough and as you say was a accident waiting to happen, people had used the side of the race course to warm up and it was quite badly churned up, but what else were they to do. I would be more than happy to attend the Prestige Equine Events show again but not if it was to be held at Aintree.

Will read the rest of the posts shortly but the amount of rubbish i have collected from our shows and we provide bins is is disgusting and always a few that ruin it for the many, and while we give calls for people to tidy up, the mess that i am faced with after a long day does make you think why do you bother, and also it seems to be the wealthier people who think putting their litter in a bin is beyond them !!!!!!

i must say that the rubbish was bad i cannot understand how ignorant these people are who leave this sort of mess at shows perhaps its time show organisers took some reg numbers and name and shame the dirty sods who leave the mess,we gladley helped clean up despite keeping our own area clean ,shows cannot afford huge clean up bills and neithyer can most competitors afford to have entry fees go up even more to pay for these dirty peoples mess . well done prestiege you did a great job

I do agree about the warm up arena, but thats Aintree for you its just not big enough for the ones that have novices or need plenty of warming up, Its not Prestige's fault. And 30 horses you say paulluap in the warm up, umm don't think so. We went to there first show at Alsager as well and there was no problem there, with the warm up arena. Its just aintree's not big enough. I decided not to take my novice which needs 1hr warming up as its just not big enough, but took the veteran as he only needs 10mins. You will get this at some venues, so think wisely.

You would of moaned like hell if they had split those 30 up into a smaller number and you had less time to warm up. At the end of the day there was limited space for warm up, Prestige Events did say that there was limited warm up (see forth comming events), so if you need a long time to warm up why go.
