RIP my little Romeo

My mare sadly lost her foal during birth yesterday morning. Absolutely heartbraking. A stunning bay colt, perfectly formed, likely to have gone dun or blagdon, Anglo Arab cross Cob...an unusual mix, but my god it worked......so sad, I feel so deflated :_( R.I.P little Romeo xxxxx

Thank you everybody. The mare is doing really well. She's full in her foal heat at the moment so is beside herself, but she is very bright eyed and looks fantastic.
It was very sad having to bring her home from stud and leave little Romeo there. It was the kindest thing to do for the mare though. She knew. She didn't whinny once or turn to look back. She had covered him over with straw the day before.
I wish anyone else who is awaiting the arrival of a foal, all the best luck in the world and keep my fingers crossed that everything turns out alright x

So sad to hear this - i lost one last year at birth and was devestated. Not looking forward to my 2 foaling this year after a very bad year last year.

Glad your mare is coping, it is amazing how well they get on with life.

So sorry 15 years ago my mare had a traumatic delivery (breech & upside down0 and had to teke foalout in bits sadly, such a shame but never count foalies till they hatched its juts so traumatic and feel 100% what you re going through xxxx

OMG EmmaJane, thats awful. Im so sorry. And it doesn't matter how long ago it was, it is something that will stay in your memories forever. It was my first experience of a loss, so prpbably one of the worst I am ever going to face, but I have no doubt it won't be my last.
I have one more mare due this year, but not until May so keeping everything crossed for her.....she is a maiden mare though so that brings its own troubles!!!

fingers tightly crossed for both our maiden mares. if Violet loses her baby - you can all come and visit me at the funny farm.....

I nearly lost my marbles, when my most beloved mare was killed by lightening, so dont think the marbles are as strong as they should be!
