hi, not sure if one of our ponies is hard mouthed or just not learned to listen to the bit aid - he goes well in his NS bits but doesnt respond easily to stop ,slowdown commands - been given exercises to try and dont want to change his bit is it worth trying to soften his mouth and if so do you put molasses on curb chains even though i dont give him sugar in his diet as not laminitic but i try to keep them on a sugar free diet just incase

I used a simular idea on one of mine, whilst mucking out etc I used a breaking bit on a head piece and put a little treacle on it, 2-3 wks of doing this you should see a differance.

well didnt need re mouthing as very responsive - he had just forgotten command for brakes with young jockey who wasnt asking to brake very often luckily instructor able to ride pony and teach pony and child brakes ;D
