In foal mare looking like she's in season????

Hi i've just got a new mare and she's meant to be in foal due April/May. Yesterday while she was in having her dinner one of the colts also came in to be fed and my new mare was being a complete tart and squirting all over the place. It will be her first foal and she is rising 4 years old.

Is it normal for a mare to diplay infront of a stallion/colt if she's already in foal?

This can be a show of submission and some mares do display this behaviour and it is usually pee that they squirt out....and they can be a bit over the top in the display too

Yep have one A mare that has full seasons weeks before foaling

This can happen but I would keep an eye on her and if in doubt have her rescanned.

my mare is due 15 april and is clearly in foal and behaves like a stallion with the gelding next door, suirting and squealing.

Thanks every one thought it was probably a submission thing as she's only been with me a week. She's due to have a booster in 2 weeks so i'm going to keep my eye on her and if in any doubt get her scanned again to make sure x x. I've worked at many studs and never seen mares display like this lol x

most of our welsh mares start chatting up the boys before they foal they are real tarts , one was stabled next to a big warmblood colt and was giving him the come on the night she foaled .

its completely acceptable behaviour, and its due to the hormone
levels increasing again towards the end of the pregnancy.

Thanks again every one she's getting scanned on Monday but is starting to look more pregnant now as belly expanding, but at least i'll know when she's due x
