A couple of weeks ago i was at the Scottish Farmer's Agricultural Supplier Awards at the Royal Highland show as my business Silverburn Browbands was shortlisted into the final three for the Equestrian Supplier of the Year Award. I went to the awards and was delighted to see the Equine Vets from Renfrewshire get the Award and was overwhelmed to be a runner up. At the awards, it was only the winner who recieved a prize and since i've been home people have asked what i got, to which i replied that i got the recognition of being in the final three and got my name in the Scottish Farmer and on their website. However, I got this in the post this morning!!! I'm going to have to get it framed and up in my workshop!

Silverburn Browbands are also featuring in the July edition of HORSE Magazine as part of their 6 of the Best Show Browband Companies which i am just delighted about. This has been a super year for me and my business! Here's hoping i have many more years like this!

Also, i am going to be having a much earlier christmas cut off date this year for bespoke browband orders. The cut off date for bespoke orders is going to be Sunday November 20th. The cut off date for ready to go browbands will be the 5th December. The bespoke date is subject to change depending on how busy i am with them. The waiting time is normally approx 3-4 weeks, so remember to get your orders in well in advance and have the size of browband that you require in inches at the ready

I'm not sure how many of you are friends with my browbands facebook page, but for 2012 i have introduced a new range exclusive to Silverburn Browbands called Silverburn WILD!!! Prints which is a range of browbands created with animal print ribbons, solid colours and metallics. They are really different and definately a bit of a guilty pleasure. I'll have them on display at the 2012 Royal Highland Show but here's a few photo's of the first one i have completely finished. Got another couple in tiger fur and Leopard Print with black and coffee that i haven't put the photo's up of yet, although there are quite a few colourway samples to look at, but keep an eye on the Facebook page for them. They will also be featured in HORSE magazine as part of a new products feature

I have only one more day to go before i'm off to the Royal Highland Show to exhibit with my browbands trade stand! The greatest show on earth! I'm am very excited!!!! Every year for the last 6 years, The Scottish Farmer has been holding an awards ceremony showcasing the Scottish farming and equestrian service providers. The awards are presented at the Royal Highland Show on the 21st June. There is a section for The Equestrian Service Provider of the Year 2013 and i would love my small business, Silverburn Browbands to be nominated for that award. In 2011 i was shortlisted and got through to the finals, the judges were so impressed i was runner up

For those who aren't aware, i started up my browband business in January 2010 after the birth of my little girl and a massive career change from being an Interior Designer. Over the last nearly three and a half years, a huge amount of time and effort has gone into building up Silverburn Browbands into what it is at present. I work very hard to provide my customers with a well made, quality product at an affordable realistic price, whilst providing a helpful friendly service. I also look after my little girl Holly who is now Three and a half (and a handful! Ha ha!) i look after my own two horses, i look after my home, do various tasks for the committee I am on, plus a whole host of other commitments, all whilst my partner is working away from home.

Making it into the finals again after my previous success will be the ultimate reward for my determination at making Silverburn Browbands succeed and will absolutely make my year!!!

Award winning Silverburn Browbands are running a competition on Facebook which runs out at Midnight tonight. I thought i would share it on Horse Gossip. Please do join in and have a go. It is open to everyone, get your kids involved, send one in yourself & tell your friends! Create your design of what you would like to potentially win, and then take a photo of the entry form with your finished design, or scan it and email it to [e-mail] or pm it to the Facebook page, attaching the image to your pm. The competition is open to everyone of all ages. If you are at a horse show, and bored in the lorry with a smart phone or ipad, i'm sure there is bound to be a colouring in app you can use!

As it is the easter holidays, I decided to run a browband competition with a little twist. The April Silverburn Browbands competition is a Design a Browband competition! Unleash your inner creative flair and design your own browband! I have created a template of rough outlines for you to use as a guide if required. Ideally print this off in A4. Please add as much descriptive detail as you can, and fill in the details at the bottom of the form including the size of browband you would require should you win. The closing date for the designs is the 20th April which is easter Sunday. These can be sent back by email or by PM. When i have all the designs, i will upload them into an album on Facebook, and the top 10 with the most likes by the 27th April will then go forward to be judged for the winner. The winner will be announced on the 30th April 2014. The winning browband will be made into a reality, uploaded to the Website/Facebook and then sent to the lucky winner. Please do share the competition, the more the merrier ... Good luck!
