God artistic you are stunning, LP will be furious. Imagine looking like that, owning racehorses and having a rich, horsey, gay arab. My God some people have all the luck.
Barefoot your poor mummy dog, hope she isn't in too much pain, I shall send her a karma for safe delivery.

A healing karma for your doggy Dazy - I have just been through of this with Charm, as you know, so I understand how bad you are feeling. Maybe if it is cushings, they can give her the same tablets and prolong her life, as they will with ponies?

My goodness, oh my goodness, oh my ........
HP I don't quite know what to say except are you rich, horsey, gay and arab?
Dazy your poor lady, shall send her a karma. How does cushings manifest itself in dogs. Would the diabetes and the cushings be intertwined if you get my meaning?
Barefoot are there any babies yet, can we name one?
You just won't believe it, I have toothache again. MM was entirely right maybe it should have been pulled out.

Sage, interestingly enough diabetes pancreatitis and cushings tend to go hand in hand.. symptoms are excessive drinking, weeing, hunger panting.. also unlike horses they loose hair rather than get hairyer... all fits in as she has never grown her hair back from when she was spayed.. she also has the other symptoms (which are similar to diabetes)
also muscle weakness, lethargy, pot bellied.. she has the lot. The blood test tomorrow will confirm this and we can start treatment
prognosis depends where the problem is, if its a tumour on the adrenal gland or pituatary gland, and if the tumour is malignant or benign...
lots to think about.

Humans have the same trouble as well with that pancreatitis don't they? don't know if humans get cushings though.
Your vets bill must be huge, presume you are insured. With small animals though you can pay a bit extra monthly and they don't get exclusions. Nevertheless, I pay £12 per month per cat and that is just for the basic cover.
Artistic is obviously busy giving it some with the belly dancing, no foal pictures, needs to get her priorities right.

its very quiet in here this morning. where is everyone?
Dazy, that is very expensive! Interestingly i saw a thread a couple of months ago on another forum about the way the pet insurance industry has affected the care small animals receive from vets depending on whether they have insurance or not. It was referring to an article on one of the clever papers, like the Independant or something, that had been written by a senior vet. What he was saying was that vets are no longer treating animals depending on their illness and diagnosis, but on whether they had insurance or not. He referred to a situation where someone brought an elderly dog or cat in suffering from cancer. He said that depending whether the animal had insurance or not would depend on whether treatment, such as an op and chemo would be offered or whether the best thing would be to PTS. His opinion was that in a lot of cases where PTS would be the best option for the animal to prevent further suffering, treatment is offered as the vets know that the owners will take it because they have insurance to pay for it. Made me think a little, especially as it seems that a vet will ask 'is it insured' before they even examine an animal these days. I wonder if there was no such thing as pet insurance whether some of these small animal practises would struggle a little?
And im sure you are doing the right thing for your little girl Dazy, its nothing to do with your case that I was referring too, just jogged my memory is all!
Anyway, karma for LP for charm, who luckily is insured for her £400 shoes! and am off to tackle the pigsty that is apparantly my daughters bedroom. I have a menagarie of littlest pet shop figures and sylvanian families to put away. I thought she was quiet in there yesterday teatime, but OH put her to bed and I didnt see it until I got her up for school this morning. I could be some time!!!

£750 a year! Still I expect right now you are grateful to have that insurance.
AMWAP I remember my daughter's sylvanians, I loved them. I expect you shall be in that room for ages playing.
It is all very quiet, no puppy or foal pictures, so I shall be off to do the housework.
