well you would need to get permission from your local council, would depend where you live if you were to get objections, if that was ok you'd need insurance to cover the dogs and you in event of accident or death, negligence, terms of kennels, you would have to have proper drainage which went into a proper drain, so you can hose out kennels and disenfect with ease, i dont know if this is a requirement but youd want a excercise area for them, (not there run) this is only view of someone with a friend that has kennels, was there certain thing you were worried about?

hi m@m. well just considering it at the moment, we have a farm so no near neighbours. Only thinking of doing it in a small way, about 6 dogs. just wondering what the set up costs would be. Thanks for answering.

the actual build tpye costs would be relitively cheap for six or so kennels especially considering kennels my way charge normally around 10-15 pound a night! and i would say a small and personable kennel would be more popular with people than a massive kennel with lots of different staff,, if you had a enclosed building empty you'd only need to get the metal panel fronts and maybe brick partitions, making sure there was sufficient drainage, i recon if you were strict and resourceful you could achieve wat you want for a couple of grand, doing alot of the work yourself, plus your insurance, obviously your ten steps nearer to getting it as youv got the ideal place with plenty of space, but drainage is the main thing, good luck let us know if you go for it.

Have you thought about a Cattery? No noise worries, much less worry about temperament issues and comparable rates. Juat a thought as I would guess it is easier to get permission. Good luck Alys

yes I've seen some fabulous kennels advertised on the internet, but I'm looking to do something more within most peoples reach financially. Just clean and homely, where pets will be cared for whilst owners on holiday etc. Out of interest ffynnoncadno, what do you charge per day?

thats very kind of you, your charges seem very reasonable compared to some I've seen. I was thinking on the lines of kennels with runs, and part of a field fenced off for excercise, but the drainage system is a bit confusing, could that go into our septic tank? Do you need any license to administer drugs?
