I would be very sorry to hear that if it is right. She was an excellent judge and always fair. I cant think that she was that old, was she?

i do think she was older than what she appeared, it has come from a reputable source and had heard she wasnt taking on as many appointments, so may have been unwell, its very sad and another fair honest judge taken from us xxx

How sad - would echo above always found her a very fair judge. Didn't know her personally but when we have been judged by her found her very fair and friendly. Best wishes to all her family.

Yes Mrs Pauline Barfield died today, she had had a bad illness sadly (you know the one, I do not want to say it). Such a great supporter of the shows, it will be sad not to see her at them any more.

What a lovely lady, remember her judging our son at Leicester County last year and was lovely to him with words of encouragement and a smile, and had the pleasure of meeting her when I was judging at the same show as her. Will be sadly missed. RIP.

Yes, she judged my daughter 25 years ago and latterly my grandaughter. She always loved ATW and came across to see us to ask after him in later years when he was not competing under her. I am very sorry to hear the news.

Many thanks to all who have posted in this thread. The Barfield family is really touched that Pauline is being remembered so fondly. She had been hoping to attend a few shows this spring and summer, and was really sad when she realised a few weeks ago that this was not going to be possible. If anyone on this forum would like to attend her funeral in Derbyshire on 24th March, you will be most welcome. Please call 07900 824359 for details. Thanks once again. My mum lived for judging and showing, and loved people and horses in equal measures. Nic Barfield (son).

Deepest sympathies Nic. I didn't have the honour of knowing your mum but from the posts on here I think it was my loss - I would have loved to have met her!
