I have an almost new alexander james tweed show jacket that i will never wear again, it would look fab on my daughter with her black dartmoor.
So the question is - Can a taylor make a small jacket out of a bigger jacket?? or is it more cost effective to sell the bigger jacket and buy a smaller jacket in the same fabric??

YOu could ger between £100 and £150 for the jacket if you sold it second hand.
Getting a good taylor to deconstruct and then remake a jacket is going to cost you £150 ish. Then you have the worr of does the taylor understand Riding jackets. There is an art to making a riding jacket sit correctly when you are in the saddle and I have found most non horsey taylors do not understand and the jacket never looks right.
I'd sell your tweed and get alexander james to make one up for your daughter int he same fabric.
