I have a mare who is due in 5 weeks and she had to have dropped some weight and I wonder if it is normal?  |

mares look like they lose weight before they are due to foal,it's the muscles relaxing in preparation,I have one mare which goes to look horrendous and soon as she pops she's blooming again....If you are really concerned ask the vet,you can always pop a pic up  |

They usually cant take on as much hay etc when they are heavy as foal is taking up a lot of room so I wouldn't be overconcerned but if she drop's too much I would speak to your vet
