Please can I have some advice of what salary to offer for a groom, I have someone who works for me PT currently, but feel I am paying a lot for not a lot! Live in, self contained refurbished 1 bed annexe, pets and own horse possible. 5/5.5 day week VERY civilised working hours and flexibility on days off, 9 stables max (inc 4 pony boxes). Help with getting ready to ride, washing, prepping for show and sale. No need to drive car or lorry, travel to shows as an extra pair of hands rather than me going on my own. Training available, would probably suit younger, keen person wanting to gain experience, plenty of riding for LW capable jockey. Any ideas...

Sounds like a very nice deal for someone! imo, pay would depend upon experience but ranging from £120-£180 a week.

Really? I'm feeling really hacked off now...I pay current PT person £120/week for 5 days, she turns up when she wants, mucks out the stables, water and haynets and that's it. Very very rarely turns out/brings in and I do am and pm feeds.... Oh and I bought her a mini shetland for her toddler and keep her (pony that is) and pay all bills including vaccinations etc. It's difficult though as she's now a good friend, having worked for me for 3 years and hubby was made redundant over a year ago

6 days a week - showing hours i.e. what ever is required! That is taking into consideration accomodation provided (bills paid) and own horse.
