I have seen that Van Gogh has lost his qualification for PP mixed height SHP. i remember that there were allegations against how this pony could do this class and im glad to see justice has been done, and the second placed pony has got the ticket as she deserved! Well done!

As understand the pony was stuck at producers yard for 11 days due to adverse weather conditions and that it was the producer who told the BSPS.

Sandwich - how sure are you of your "facts" I understood it was not the producer who reported the case to the bsps - but another competitor. The producer was not prepared to lie when subsequently asked the question by BSPS. Isn't this called ethics?

If the second place pony was that good and deserving it would have been first and not second to Van Gogh. Who also won the Open and stood reserve that day.

I don't know the pony or the people concerned. What I will say is if it was not competing within the rules, then it's absolutely right for it to be disqualified. Yes it's a shame for the child, but the child should not have been put in that position in the first place, and it's those adults that should take responsibility for the child's disappointment. And also the responsibility for the fact that the rider of the pony that subsequently qualified was denied the enjoyment of their big moment.

Why call them cheats, do you know why they were disqualified, do you know all the facts.
It could have been an honest mistake, like a friend sitting on the pony at a show cooling the pony off before the championship whilst the jockey went for a wee , a friend who is now produced, this would mean disqualification, but would not make them cheats.

Because(if the reason given is correct) they should not have been entered in the first place as obviously they did not meet the criteria whatever the reason. Rules are rules and must be adhered to other wise where would it end? Someone who's birthday was on 31st December could say they were only a day too old etc, etc.

I agree with kayjayem, rules are rules, and if you make an exception for one person there would be a dozen others who would want to bend the rules! You have to draw a line, and whilst I sympathise enormously with the child who had to give up the ticket, I think it's absolutely the right thing to happen.
Really, if it's a qualifier and you know you're not eligible to compete, then don't do it; it's quite obvious someone will object if there's a ticket to be had.

I dont know the politics surrounding this one, but to put things in perspective listen to my experiences....
I had an untouched pony broken on someone;s yard ready to bring on for following year (not even same year pony!!!) - before this had qual rihs home produced with another pony... Didn;t feel I could enter without breaking rules, so didn;t
Friend of mine has their "produced" ponies in the name of one family member, and "home" ponies in other family name, Consequently thye had pony on pretty polly which was more produced than either of ours ever were!!!
I think where people need to look at this is the true spirit of the competition!

Unfortunately in circumstances like that I think it's down to the societies to close the loopholes - there will always be people who will bend over backwards to get round the rules, and not lose a minutes sleep over it.

The loopholes are massive for these classes. It is sad people do try to get round them. Surely there are enough classes, to do, without breaking rules? Yes I feel great sympathy, for the rider. But, he/she shouldnt have been put in that position, in the first place. Rules are rules and everyone should stict to them, without exception. When the ams classes first came out, for the hunters. There were animals winning a weight class with a pro, then the owner jumped on and took into the ams! There does need to be a massive shake up, of ALL am/home produced class rulings.
