I need to buy a show bridle for our new exmoor, she'll be doing first ridden classes, but she is just into a cob size and I'm worried that a plain hunter noseband/browband in a cob size will look too heavy for her. Could I get away with a more delicate bridle or does it really need to be the plain flat hunter type?

no, definately get a wide 1" at least flat noseband, it will complement her, we show them at top level, a pretty bridle would not suit, I always buy tack from Fylde, his nosebands are great, and m and m bridles are good and nice leather,

Fylde are brilliant, we always get our bits and bobs from there x

You definitely want a plain hunter noseband but if she is only just into a cob size then you may get away with a pony sized noseband (which may be slightly narrower than 1") - it all depends on how big her head is, our 11.3hh would look swamped by a 1" noseband as he has such a small head (but he only takes a Shetland sized bridle!)
